Set two WRs after just starting this week, AMA lol

okay, i'm exaggerating. I'll get to that in a moment.

I'm Lizzie, a 23 year old musician from Saskatchewan. I came across an AGDQ2015 compilation on YouTube about 2 years ago, right when AGDQ2016 was around the corner. I watched the show live and had more fun watching video games than I ever thought was possible. I had no idea games could be played in this manner, and it hugely interested me. However, being lazy and easily distracted my fascination was mostly stuck to observation. I had gotten involved with some stuff in my personal life and stopped acknowledging the existence of speedrunning altogether until I got laid off and had more time on my hands than I knew how to deal with.

Another AGDQ compilation popped up in my YT recommended feed, and I took a quick glance to the new equipment I had accrued over the years; a sim racing wheel and a VR headset. I immediately came to this website and searched for an easy game to speedrun, found BeamNG.Drive, and immediately set upon submitting times. With almost no effort thanks to my sim racing equipment, I was able to beat the records - previously set only on gamepads. It was fun enthusiastically exclaiming to my friends that I was a world record holder, but the victory ends up feeling shallow when I have to admit the sheer unfairness in my run. I've set my sights on a Superhot VR world record now, and hope to pick up the challenge in a small selection of other games. Getting a small taste of adrenaline from the lonely race against time was all I needed to get interested in participating.

My main hobby has been music for a majority of the past decade. I got my start when Dubstep became a big thing and, thinking the genre was just a big mashup of random noises, I attempted to dip my toes into the music production business. I sucked, but creating something from absolutely nothing was an experience powerful enough to change my life forever. I'm now working on a project with two close friends, I've played a few small gigs to positive reception, and I even provided sound production and a couple music tracks on an MLP fan game called "Bobby Schroeder Presents: Super Lesbian Horse RPG Preemptive Game of the Year Edition." or SLHRPG. or ¤SLURRRP¤ ¤GULP¤. take your pick.

so yeah, i broke a couple speedrunning world records after starting just this week. ask me anything lmfao

Yeah, without meaning to diminish your achievement or anything, 'WR' stats that are either uncontested or beat a previously uncontested time aren't generally looked upon with very much prestige.

It's a good start though, and if you can topple any established/more optimised WRs that would be great.

SUPERHOT VR is leagues harder to WR in than a simple racing game, good luck.

lol to reiterate i am 100% aware that the achievement of WR means nothing in a game with barely any competition. I mostly wanted to learn how this site worked and get my recording setup working, and the BNG runs worked well for that purpose. that said, i'd be lying if i said i didn't at least feel a sense of pride for just completing my first ever speedrun in the first place.

@16bit if you check my website you'll find all my music. GOG is a noise project I made with a Misa Tribass, but I'm A Mess is probably the best project I've released to date. <3
