Hey there guys,

i wanted to start with this game because its still one of my childhood favs.

i thought this category would be good to start with because it doesnt seem to require that much skill compared to like (151 pkmn category). i followed the run of Decon082 (was very fun to watch) and i came to the part where u have to do all that menu stuff to do the 'warp'. the problem is that every run i saw, people had that "j []9" in their inventory and i always have only "j x3". i ran this game like 10 times now to see if something went wrong. i observed his run and the only thing i came across is, that i have 2 potions more and a few pokeballs less to drop, the rest i did exactly the same as he did. do i need exactly 1 potion and 9 pokeballs like he had?

hope someone can help!

j x3 is just the same as j x9. Just drop one of them, this is supposed to trigger the fast text glitch for the very last part of the game

first of all, thanks for your answer. really appreciate that!

few things to add. i made a mistake in my post. he also had "j x3" but he still got that weird symbol in front of his quantity (which afaik means that he got 255). mine only says x3 without that "infinite" symbol. this shouldn't be a problem since hes only dropping 1 of them. next thing is i dropped 1 and then in his video he scrolls up 5 times and he got that TM which he swaps with the masterball x17. if I scroll up 5 times theres an "item" which is called "PCEnemy Missingo". if i swap this with masterball x17 and try to toss 1 away, my game crashes :/

Sorry if I'm really late with this, but your options should be set to "fast" text, battle animations "off," and battle style "SHIFT", not "set." The value you're seeing is actually j. x 193, which happens when you use the "set" option. When you set the option to "SHIFT" at the start of the game (which doesn't lose you any time at all during the run), that value is changed to 129, meaning you can toss only 11 to get the HoF map value, 118.

For quite a while I didn't know this either, so my strat was to toss 75 to get 118 :P But this way is faster by a few seconds.
