my thoughts about this:

  1. changing timing is, in my opinion not needed, for reasons read No2

  2. simply ban manipulation of all sorts PERIOD and if ppl want to play around with it, make it a new category

  3. was always that way, will always be that way

  4. iirc 90% of the games state even WHICH console, but even if another console is faster, where's the problem, other games have the same problems and runner still run the slower console, it's not all about leaderboards!

  5. time theoriginal FMV and the "corrupted" one and add the time it would have taken, aka, if a runner knows of it, don't be freaking lazy or cheap and do it beforehand yourself!

  6. some ppl have bad iternet, disqualifing em by default is the worst idea imo, doesn't hit me personally, but the FF community was always open for everyone, discriminating bad internet is not the way to go, neither is it the case for ppl who do cam recording, non the less, I agree with the fact that at least a top 5 run should always be complete, without parts missing.

  7. PS3 and PS4 together, bugs me for FFX already, I just don't give a damn bout it, because no one touches PS3, if it would be the case, I would do everything to make em seperated again, PS4 is in most cases so much faster that, having PS3 in it is just stupid, can't speak for PSTV, no idea how fast that stuff is, obviously, if the time differs, seperate category

  8. If the runner wishes so, be my guest, a run obviously is still legit, no matter if someone else pressed a button or not

  9. those things should always be up for the ppl running a game and not for ppl who will prolly never touch it, in other words, I fully dissagree.

  10. imo, not needed by all means, that effort and work someone has to do, and you can bet your behind, no one wants to do that for a longer period of time, obviously something like that will not happen every day, but still, we have a discord, everyone who wants to be activily a part of his/her community, will be on there, or will be in irc. BUT, I agree with you in terms of one thing: we need better communication within the game communities and need to get rid of "dictatorship" we have running for a bunch of games, in which most decissions are made by the top runners and others don't even get asked about their opinion.

Also, I agree with flobber, if there is a problem which involves memory corruption, or whatever, change timing for 7 if the community decides to do so, and make this shenanigans a different category, everyone is happy :3

Just read your four part conclusion. If you felt I was disrespectful to your opinion then I honestly do apologise, I certainly had no intention in doing that. Like I said, I was throwing my opinion into the mix, if you felt my opinion contained fallacies then I don't know what to say about that, you wanted a discussion and I replied in what I was hoping to be a respectable manner and I said my bit.

For the record, I do think adding 30 mins to a 11 hour run (or any run) is a big deal, even a game that's not too difficult like FFX is still exhausting to do because of the longevity of it. Even for short games like FFX-2 which I sometimes like to do after work, adding 30 mins may suddenly mean I lose out on sleep or food.

Again, I apologise if you felt my comments were inappropriate, but other than a few unhelpful comments I felt the discussion was largely civilised, particularly on this thread rather than discord. So I think your reply just now in the form of images was not very helpful either and will likely only spark further annoyance/anger unnecessarily. I will no longer take part in this to avoid any further degradation of the debate.

I think you just misunderstood what I said entirely so allow me to try and clarify: I was agreeing with your suggestion that some rules being written down would be good; however, I just disagreed that we needed to blanket rules over each game. The conclusion being that, if you want that game's community to change the rules, discuss it individually within each community. Get them set in stone and put in a forum post/resource document on the game's page.

I definitely should have made my second point clearer, as I was merely referring to an individual runner of the game breaking rules in general (which, to my understanding, is what prompted this whole debate). Additionally, I said to just ask a mod to make the rules for the game clearer. Preferably they would be written down somewhere easily visible. Again, agreeing with you, but just not in a dragnet fashion.

I still stand by my third point of not needing to put the cart before the horse with regards to games that haven't released yet. If that's something you want to be on the ground floor of and start two months in advance, by all means do so.

I'll end my thoughts on this by stating this: you asked for people to discuss your proposal. We offered our thoughts on the matter in this thread. The least you could have done was simply reply to this thread and have an actual discussion instead of posting condescending MS Paint images treating us like children. By doing so you only are adding fuel to the fire instead of attempting to foster a sense of community at all (which is necessary if you want the rules to be accepted). If I offended you with my opinions then I am sorry. There was zero malicious intent with them.
