I m getting into runing farewell IL lately (mainly because i want to pick up true ending again) and i wondered how to set up live split to automatically pick up the capter timer instead of the file timer. When i start the timer manually (because it wont start on its own when entering the chapter) live split defaults to using the file timer. Does anyone know how to set up IL autosplitting properly?

end the autosplitter settings with "Chapter 9 - Farewell (Complete)" and it should automatically switch to using chapter time.
if you're unable to get that to work, go to the Resources tab of the Leaderboard, where you can find a zip of split files for every chapter in the game. it has files for both checkpoint and individual room timings of every chapter
