Let's have emus unbanned please

so like on emu, an increase of something greater than 0% to like 0.01% doesnt really matter cause the effect is insignificant, and its not really noticable, and people shouldn't really care. but if that increase was to like 15-20% then suddenly theres a big noticable difference and it should be banned. ya feel me?

United States

and i used to run crash 3 on psx fin for a long time before switching to console. i can tell you first hand the differences in gameplay are very insignificant. there is hardly a noticable difference at all. so unless like someone can find an emu only glitch or otherwise show me a huge gameplay difference, i dont see why the emu is being described as horribly innaccurate to the point where it needs to be banned.

"so like on emu, an increase of something greater than 0% to like 0.01% doesnt really matter cause the effect is insignificant"

your entire argument is because there's no immediate difference to you then that must mean there's none at all or it's too insignificant to bother with

1% doesn't seem like much, but it definitely becomes significant over time, especially over the course of a long run. even in the video linked, the first demo in crash 2, there was already a significant difference in gameplay (pay attention to when they fade out from the demo). you might think it isn't significant enough, but imagine that over the course of two hours.

although i'm absolutely certain you just didn't watch the video. or you did and thought "well load times so it's clearly slower right guys."

and honestly i don't think someone who refuses to listen to anyone but himself on the subject should be trusted with emulation accuracy. this has just been funny, honestly. knowing that you're just going to continue making an ass of yourself no matter what is shown. contributing to this has been kinda fun in that regard, really.

keep on keeping on theodore

you dont seem to get it do you? i. dont. give. a. single. shit. about. tiny. innacuracies. they. are. irrelevent. you shouldn't give a shit either.

Italy

Speeding up the gameplay by 1.012% in 1:40 hours gives you an advantage that is over ONE minute, just because you decided to play in a dead emulator. This doesn't even count the time saved by lag and loads. How can this difference be "insignificant"?

if you don't give a shit about tiny inaccuracies then don't discuss emulation

United States

Well for one, I've said that because ps2 with fds is straight up faster than psx fin no matter what, things that dont affect gameplay, even if they save minutes over other emus, are completely pointless reasons to ban emu, as they don't affect how the game plays at all, and emu is not in any way advantaged over console because of that.

And I saw the video spikestuff made on the differences, and those gameplay differences i would totally consider irrelevent. They really don't change how the game plays at all, and the difference is barely noticable. Sure it saves a lot during an entire run, but it still doesnt affect gameplay really at all, and ps2 is faster anyways so the net timesave doesn't push psx fin faster than ps2.

United States

And spikestuff, you don't even run the games so it'd be hard for you to judge how the gameplay feels on emu vs console like i can even if you take note of all the differences between emu and console.

So I guess Spikestuff learning a bunch about PS1 emulators and spending a bunch of time around TASVideos and such isn't credible evidence?

its because its about how gameplay is
And spikestuff, you don't even run the games
So apparently being the first person to sub 16 on Orient Express (PAL) means nothing. So apparently being the first person to execute Cuddle Skip Midnight Run (TAS, RTA PAL & RTA NTSC) means nothing. So apparently being the first person to execute grabbing the Gem Early at Happily Ever Faster means nothing. So apparently having an actual time of 1:13:10 on Crash Warped means nothing (twitch vod deleted as it was from back in the day.). So apparently actually having runs of Crash 2 and CTR available to watch in all of its shitty glory means nothing. So apparently even though I am the current World Record holder of the GBA series (Excluding CNK GBA.) means nothing. So apparently my work over at TASVideos means nothing. So apparently my work on a Crash Bash TAS which is real means nothing.

Wow, such strong evidence that I don't run the games, even though I run the games, just with my real shitty Australian internet I don't stream. Odd.

Teddy, inaccuracies are the crux of the whole issue. You not caring doesn't mean shit, since you're completely alone in doing so. To everyone else here, inaccuracies are the whole point, and ignoring that argument and going "I don't care" isn't a valid argument against it.

not only do i not care about innaccuracies, you are all retarded for caring, and have no reason to care. i have reason to care as some of my times are on psx fin and im considering pickinv up crash 2 on psx fin

Well Theodore, tough shit, we don't care. Have fun with your rejected times.

Note to Every Judge: Reject all of SkiCrazedTeddy Emulation Runs in the future (that are PS1). If he flags it as console. Note it down and send it to me. I'll check for you. Unless it's apparent to you he actually used a console. Then do whatever.

SkiCrazedTeddy you're only upping your attitude here. We know that you did the same sort of shit towards our friends over at the Spyro Community which had this rule already placed 6 months ago. It's the same rule change as theirs but the difference is I brought in the facts that you wanted.

That Crash, Spyro, Spike and any other character that you control on whatever PS1 game that has been done on psxfin has an increased speed of ~1.012% (~1.005% for PAL).

"But it doesn't matter that it's a 1% increase." You whine. If we get 2 runs identical 1:1 all the way for an hours length of running on console. Your time on psxfin will be 59mins 17secs not 1 hour as it should be. If you did a run that was 2 hours long on console. The time on psxfin would be 1hour 58mins 35secs not 2 hours as it should be.

To repeat.
An increase of anything greater than 0% is terrible no matter what for emulation that's meant to get the basics down.
