You've all heard of or even played the 1996 N64 classic Mario Kart 64. If you're like me and watch Summoning Salts videos on tracks like Choco Mountain or Frappe Snowland. You know it is broken. But. There is one cheat code in the game that completely breaks the game.
The beginning.
It was recently discovered by a person who wants to remain anonymous that there was a cheat code that would instantly give someone 3rd lap when they began. They called it the Speedrunners Dream Cheat Code or SDCC for short.
What was the code?
The anonymous person claims he pushed a long string of buttons. During a race. Do A, B, B, D-Pad Left, A, D-Pad Down, D-Pad Up, B, A, A, B, D-Pad Up, X, Y, Y, Trigger, X, A, B, Start Button and Y. That showed him a screen of if he wanted to turn it on or not. He did.
Who made it?
It's a mystery. No one knows. But he thinks it could be a Nintendo employee that was just tired and didn't know what he was doing. Bored.
That's all the information I got from him. This was so mysterious it's not even on Wikipedia. Thanks for reading.
Even if I believed this, which truth be told I don't, there's next to no way they would allow this in any runs. At best, there would be a category split of some kind. It's a cheat code. We inherently don't like using them in speedruns. There's a reason Super Metroid Any% doesn't use GT Code, and Celeste Any% actually completes chapters.
Curious why exactly you're posting this myth here.
I'm no expert, so some of my analysis may be incorrect, but there's some strange vertical lines next to some of the digits in the image, as if someone made some sloppy edits. Speaking of which, the image is pretty clean, suggesting emulation. And the best laps aren't red like the final times. But we're forgetting the most important rule...
no vid, no did
P.S.: @Avriix your YouTube link is broken
That's a real cool story bro, but have you ever tried to up, up, down, down, left right, left right, B, A, Start?
