Is it insane to ask for uncut footage?

So, I got a interesting comment on Reddit. It read:

“ My man, you require "full uncut" videos for speedruns? In a 10-15 hour game? I'm starting to see why no one is beating the doors down to post a run. You literally REQUIRE breaks in that amount of time unless you're a nasty ass eating on mic/cam and wearing diapers. I've actually been thinking about getting into this. Glad I didn't..”

I responded with

“ Is uncut a wierd requirement? if There is cuts in footage, then we have no way of knowing that you did not scout the route, etc etc. your welcome to speed up the footage when you are taking a break So that it is Easeyer To upload? You don’t need a facecam? You don’t need a mic? All you need is the full footage. That is a very common requiremnt! If you wish to voice your consirms more, feel free to by pming me”

Am I missing something? Was I in the wrong?

You can notice about splices or speed ups with audio edit programs like Audacity, and obviously you need the full run video, other option, is uploading the video in different parts, like (pt 1, pt2, etc...), and i dont think the facecam helps to verify the run, you can simply put your face on a pre-recorded run, and act like you are running it, the same with the mic. (this is how some people make fake runs)

so yes, it is crazy to let people upload cut runs?

It depends on the length of the run. For a run that’s under 20 hours, probably not too crazy to ask for a full video no (or at least a video that doesn’t have any huge gaps since streams can drop and local recording a run that large takes a lot of space). If the run is over that, it’s not unreasonable to allow multiple videos due to upload limits on sites. But again, as long as there isn’t any gaps, then it’s usually fine.

Please note this is dependent on each game and community, everyone might have different rules and regulations they look for with runs.

The simplest option might be to just take the bathroom during the run.. The 6 minutes of the charather standing still / pause screen might look bad, but it won't disqualify a video on the "makes honest attempt to finish game effiecently" rule. In terms of a big JRPG it's probbably less of a timeloss than a single bad boss fight or town menuing anyway.

If it's Video Cuts only - I would expect a website like this to be full uncut. Can be nice when watching speedruns on youtube etc, but I guess the runner doesn't really need to do in that case since the viewers could fast forward on their own.

If it's Save + Quit - Just make sure the category is explained - Is the Save + Quit being used to give the runner a physical break and ALWAYS timed, or is it a Fully Segmented Run where each segment is "perfect" and all the failed segments are simply not part of the run.
