Salutations good folk!

So, I'm Alex McCumbers and a few months ago our Editor Jesse introduced himself here. For whatever reason, I never did say hello to the entirety of Speedrun.com which is weird since when it comes to speedruns, I'm the main guy for it on TG.

Over the last few months, I have had some absolutely amazing interviews with some fantastic runners of all sorts. Unfortunately, since I am part-time at TG and a full time radio reporter by day, I haven't had nearly the output I would like. Our speedrun pieces also are rarely trending topics, which makes them a hard sell. This is why I recently did a piece on God of War, to align with that trend due to the new release. This is also why I'll probably pick up a story on Far Cry 5 runners.

Anyways, I want to continue making excellent content for TG about speedrunners, so I may need some broader assistance. We get some great support from the various communities I tap into, but it could always be stronger.

I also think that there are better ways for me to go about making content, so any ideas on that front are much appreciated. Know that it has to be people focused with quotes 99% of the time. Our owners are very against product focused content.

The only thing I ask is to not pester me about getting your run an article. There are WAY too many good runs out there and I wish I could cover all of them, but I can only do so much. Do feel free to ask me whatever though, just don't be surprised if I can't pick up that story.

So yeah, speedruns. I write about them on Twin Galaxies.

You ask people not to pester you about writing an article for their run, but what else do you expect from people on SRC?

Also, covering "speedruns" of brand new games might get you more traffic but it's pretty lame when the game is far from being solved as far as a speedrun goes. That's some kotaku-tier shit. Kotaku right? I don't follow those sites for specifically that reason lol.

why not post some of your speed runs here too will be fun to see if you have any. I can't really tell if you have any with TG every time I go on I get confused I kind of thought TG was more about high scores but I guess I was wrong ^_^ fun

emm even I am confused why do games that have just literally come out it only have 6 runs and it's only any% so far which on the board it says https://www.speedrun.com/fc5/guide/np8da so boring to talk about right now untill more happens with it basically a meme category. nothing wrong with meme games they can be fun but make a serious article about idk owell thats my opinion :)

Yeah, if I were do the alt ending for Far Cry 5, that would be more of a trend chase. In order to do things that are really fun, I occasionally have to do things that will guarantee us hits. If the forums are a good place to share my content, I'm down to start doing that, just hate to be spamming things without making some kind of involvement. :D

Unfortunately, TG's database is hella confusing. Even I can't find anything on there hardly. I've heard that they're looking to upgrade that layout, but I am COMPLETELY separate from everything but the Newsfeed area. Eventually, I'd like to offer runners submit their stuff to TG as well, but right now it's a bit abrasive to figure out. Doable, but not nearly as simple as here.

Yeah ^^ that is why I like src it is easy to find most things and so easy to to talk to people. :) on tg it looks like they tried to do a contemporary layout without thinking of functionality. Well you may be waiting a little bit for another ending to happan for farcry 5 haha just how it goes I guess. Idk what you hage written articles about but Celeste looks really fun. :) even if you don't write an article about it the run is a enjoyable watch high skill amazing stuff happans just cool to me :3

I really do need to pick this game up on the Switch. This, Owlboy, and eventually Hollow Knight are on my wishlist of things to pick up.

Thank ya Chryoyo! I actually really enjoy using this site; it has that database element that I desire for my research.

Also, I wanted to learn a speedrun to better connect with the community and in my journey to just get some preliminary items, I got a 2:53:17 on Resident Evil 7 Any% NG+

Pretty excited to work with the community to bring that down, but it's an exercise that's been a lot of fun for me.

any idea if GT is getting cleaned up anytime soon? you know, after the fall of "the worlds greatest gamer".

ill never understand how people do runs over an hour everyday no problem. congrats btw! resident evil is quite a difficult run from what i know
