I was talking with m00nchile in Kyle's chat just now about some VC stuff, and I remembered Gaël mentioning that the racers could decide if they wanted to do old strats or not, but I'm not too sure. Anyway, I don't think that should be disallowed for, e.g. Tyr and Fatzke to do a race with old strats, because they aren't exactly accustomed to all the new stuff, and it would still be Vice City and it would put them on a more level playing field. Sure, there is more RNG, but it would be for them both.

I guess there would be some problems with this though. If Tyr made it to face against a new runner who only knows the duping route, then Tyr wouldn't have had any extra preparation with the new strats and it'd be an easy 30-minute disadvantage for him. The thing I'm saying is though, is that if two runners happen to be fine with racing with any pre-duping route, then it should be permitted situationally.

I'll just write down some of my thoughts on the subject. The way I thought of it was, if both racers agree to do old strats it should be fine, no one would be forced to do them though. Just for the record, I'm fine with doing either, so if this is allowed, feel free to ask me to race old strats if we're put in the same group. A bit of clarification, old strats means pre bastant, so replays can be used for gun reloading and manipulation of SSA car spawns, not for remote pickups, free buys and asset warps. The only bit that's a bit suspect is Riot deathwarp, found after duping, but doesn't include replay shenanigans. Leaving that one open for other people to decide. Ultimately, Gael started this idea, so it should be his call.

But bear in mind that 1st place in each groups will be decided by average race time if 2 people or more are tied in 1st place with the same numbers of point ( example: both runners have 3 wins and 1 loss)

Also after the group stage there will be a big race for the last qualifying spot into the next stage. Every 2nd place and tied 2nd place will automatically qualify for that race but Top5 average time from all 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th place (and 6th maybe not sure yet) will also qualify for that race

The final bracket for Top8 will also be seeded with their average rage time during group stage so the "best" runners only race each other in the finals

So feel free to do whatever strat you want or agree on strats to use before the race but keep that in mind that your average race time might matter

Yea, I'm in, just a heads up to anyone who'll be in my group, I won't be available until after the 26th. I wasn't aware average race time will be a factor, so that throws a wrench in the old strats option. I know this tourney is for fun and getting VC a bit of TLC, but still, if it's on then why not try to do well. So I guess my old strats offer is off the table :)
