So I want to start a marathon

With recent talk of ESA and SGDQ and everyone practicing marathon type runs, I thought of an idea. An idea that may or may not have been done or is being done now.

But anyway. I want to try and do a marathon. But not a marathon for charity, as that will be done later if this works out well. But like a 24/7 marathon that can be done by different runners of different games. I want it to be done in a way so that unknown runners can get noticed and unknown speed games can be noticed as well. Scheduling would be made so that it could fit for runners and viewers of different time zones as best as it can be. And any games and categories would be fine, but really long runs would be on certain days like the weekend or something. But every so often there would be events for certain runs and games. As for how it will be streamed, I was thinking of just letting the current runner use the stream key for the twitch channel in whatever they use to stream. I got the idea from what Globe_Runners did for their marathon. I would like to believe that everyone will be responsible and adult about it, but the stream key will be reset after a while though to be safe. I might make a few requirements to stream on the channel as well.

So with all that said, anyone that wants to help and/or run in the marathon are welcome to. Please feel free to respond here or message me on Twitch. I would like a few people to help me with running the channel as well and a youtube and twitter account if wanted.

Thanks in advance.

Personnaly, i think this is a good idea. Not sure if i'd help or not yet though... this could be a big thing i guess.

I would be certainly interested in doing a run. Cool idea.

Thanks for the replies guys. Though I'm still trying to figure a few things out, I would like to have a somewhat decent schedule to start off with. At least to have some testing done first and actually start the stream after SGDQ.

As this seems to be a good idea, I have to come with the experience I have in similar projects : Team Ludendi

They installed a hostbot on their main channel to host the team members when the channel is not in use for ESA or other events. When it got announced, that was fairly new, so it was a bit popular and that was a really good showcase for the team members. But now, they barely have 2 or 3 viewers sometimes so the interest is really low (still cool to get hosted though)

I think your project is similar : you get several runners to randomly stream on a single channel, but if there's nobody to watch, people may not want to stream there and it's a vicious circle that leads to the drop of the project.

That said, I think you can expect some interest at first by both runners and viewers, but if you want to keep your viewers, you may want to have some special guests or something like that, even if the channel is mainly aimed at small streamers.

Ah, yes. Well I was aware that something like that would happen. This idea mainly was added on from an idea that I had for a channel to just have runners practice marathon type runs since those runs turn out much differently than a normal run. With or without viewers, I was thinking that it could help some runners get some kind of practice if they was going to be running in their first marathon for something like SGDQ, ESA, or something else like that.

With that said, I do plan on getting some special guests. But I want to try and have a good hold on things first beforehand. Because it would just seem childish to ask a popular runner to be in something like this if there isn't any solid ground to it. That's why I would like to start off with some tests and then get a few popular runners for when the real thing starts off.

Is this still a thing?

Yes it is. But I have to put this on hold because of some things going on in life. Hopefully, I can get back to this in a few weeks.
