Really annoying Research Lab bug for alien campaign

trying to do my first speedrun ever of avp. ive played this game for years and ive played the alien campaign time and time over, but this one part of the lab is hinging my speedrun and its really pissing me off.

when you kill the second test subject and the third one with the gun comes, you're supposed to hiss to get the door to open and attack him.

90% of the time I hiss and the door doesnt open. he sits behind the locked door, doing nothing. ive been trying to practice but the first level is the only one thats stopping my progress because of this godawful bug thats caused me to have to restart many speedrun attempts.

Ive reinstalled the game, verified the files, everything. the damn door just never opens.

I back a little bit and hiss, that seems to work for me most of the time. I've had the door not open many times, it's annoying :/

oh thank god..it’s good to know it’s not only my game that it’s happening in. yeah, i do seem to notice that the door opens when i’m not directly pressed against it, which sorta sucks cuz in order to get that good time..haha

I think it's just something to do with the door itself, I would not know. Probably has something to do with the trigger of the NPC. But at least you can run :)

Pardon my boomer glossary as it has been a very long time but I recall this happening a lot when we found out you can break the lights early. I remember experimenting a bit and it felt like it happened less if you didn't break the lights early however I couldn't ever find conclusive evidence of it being from that. If you are doing the fast lights and it soft locks - just for testing I would see if you don't break the lights early if the door opens. This is random guess though as it never happened often enough for me to stop most attempts.

Ahhh yes I did actually test it once :) I think it worked without busting the lights early and then the other time it didnt work. It sucks cause I really gotta bust those lights early in order to get good times. I'd need to do more tests to see if that is the case - another thing I noticed, the researcher on the right seems to go into this weird cower animation, maybe that has some ties with the softlock?

I don't really have an explanation for why just an observation of it. If I had to guess the game doesn't handle the speed you do the scripted section very well so it can softlock the sequence and or lead to a waiting in it that happens to not resolve.
