Hi, I'm a new speedrunner and I'm learning the run with Exarion's guide. I've a question about Misty's fight. One moment, the guide says "If you used Shift strats, send out Squirtle for Starmie, and use Bubble until you get the speedfall". I used this strat but I did two Tail Whip with Squirtle to counter X Defend. After he died, I send Nidoking and OS (often) Starmie with Trash. I think the "Bubble strat" is too random and mine is better but I'm a noob so I'm not sure. Is it really better ?
This strat is only needed if your nidoking is slower than starmie which shouldn't be that often, so using tail whip is pointless. X defend isn't that common anyway.
If you're doing it with the RNG manip, you should only need to be above 50HP on Misty as you'll only need a 3 turn thrash.
I know why I use this strat Mastoise. I'm just unlucky about Nido speed stats. I think that "Bubble strat" is too random cause What do you do if you have not the speedfall?

You might want to join the PSR discord (look at the pokemonspeedruns.com forums, there should be a link, otherwise i can DM you one). There are a lot of ressources there.
The RNG manip consistently gives you a nidoran with the following dvs: 13 hp 15 attack 15 defense 14 speed 15 special, which is the absolute perfect stat combination that is possible. So it makes the run a lot easier and more consistent.
- This is the RNG Manip I use and a lot of other runners use for the perfect Nido with the key inputs on screen, this will make the run a lot more manageable as far as ranges go.
PlatYellow, it's when you do left-right moves ? All inputs before and after are useless ? I'll try it in my next practice.

All inputs have to be the same to land on the seed that gives you the exact Nidoran, so when you hard reset on the Copyright screen you have to Up+B+Select, etc with the other inputs shown in the video.
Bearing in mind you also need to have BGB/Gambatte-sr with GBC Bootrom or it will literally never work
Ok I come again cause I've a new question. I trained the manip but I don't have 100% of success. I want to know if there is a exact number of inputs when you spam B during the capture for exemple.

The only reason he's spamming B in the video is to get rid of the text following the capture of Nidoran, which doesn't have anything to do with the Manip. Occasionally I mess up the manip, so don't be so concerned with 100% success rate it happens.
So all inputs after the nido pop are useless? Really? If it's right, I'm just really stupid hahahaha.
I have a question about this nido manip. I've been using the emulator that was linked in the rules. And i checked on "Original GBC RNG" in the settings, because i assume that this is necessary? Do i need to do other things in my settings in the emulator or download additional software to get this to work? Because i feel like i'm giving the proper inputs but i can't get it to work. Of course i may very well just be bad. Also, will you always find the nidoran on the same exact tile? Thanks in advance
Do you have the gbc_bios.bin? and do you have bootroms enabled?

Ahh thank you very much. I got it instantly first try now :). But this is another emulator right? Is it allowed to use this BGB one? Also should i know more settings for later in the run or is everything correct now?
This is BGB 1.5.2 with a GBC bios image, as stated in the rules, so everything will be alright for approval as long as you follow the rules of the leaderboard with showing the window border etc.
