If you are uncomfortable with broken videos being on the leaderboards, message the moderators of that board. No run comments necessary.

So many people on these forums don't understand that if a comment is relevant to a thread it doesn't matter how old it is and pointing it out is so needless and unproductive
but I’ve just searching through runs of AC2 and the top 2 records don’t even have proof that they’ve happened
Which category are you referring to? They all seem to have working videos to me, unless you mean some game other than Assassin's Creed 2... Are you blocked from watching Twitch for some reason?

He's saying that he thinks comments would be a great addition for that purpose... did you miss that part? Yes, the two items are not that related for those who have a better understanding about speedrunning, sure, but it still fits in the thread. It's also a larger problem with these forums. A lot of you are sticklers for forum etiquette and 'rules', stifling conversation before it begins with needless technicalities and nitpicks. This is by far the most toxic part of the speedrunning community from my perspective. I don't care if you disagree with me, I'm not interested in having this debate.
He's saying that he thinks comments would be a great addition for that purpose... did you miss that part?
He did, but his comment also made up only a small portion of the post while most of it was about some totally irrelevant subject.
This is by far the most toxic part of the speedrunning community from my perspective.
If you think this is anywhere near toxic, let alone the most toxic part of the community, then you are one lucky man for not having experienced some other very large and complete dog shit communities (I'm looking at you GoldenEye).

i also dont see how comments on runs would help with deleted videos. i dont think many would even go write comments and the few that might would probably write "nice run!" "gg" and other things like that

I think they should add something that shows you how many views a run has on speedrun.com. There is even a line in the Stats page of any speedgame that tracks the combined view count of all the runs submitted on sr.c for that game, which means there has to be a system that's already used that tracks how many views each particular run has, so I see no reason as to why it would be a bad idea for us to see this information.

I see nothing wrong with the site turning more into something like Facebook as long as it keeps the concept of speedrunning intact. While you discourage it the vast majority of people who use the site will most likely encourage the site having some of the features seen on the mainstream apps and websites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.

Personally I'd like it if you could follow runners on sr.c for example, I know the followers will probably not mean as much as they would on YouTube and Twitch but it's still nice to have them imo.

See this for example.

I didn't know about that but that still doesn't disprove the point that there is something in the code that keeps track of every run's individual view count more or less accurately.

There was something in the code that kept track of the view count. Whether there still is, or has been, any such thing for the past 6 months is unknown.
