SO i've done a couple of any% runs and i've posted them to youtube. BUT my capture card doesn't capture the sound. I have done all the instructions to fix it and i tested it and it works but when i do runs it doesn't capture sound. I might quit soon beacuse i get rlly frustrated about this. Please help!

Yeah I have that problem too, not all capture cards do audio (or good quality audio).

What I do is I plug a headphone jack lead from the microphone slot on my controller into my computer and capture the sound that way.

Yeah I capture sound by connecting the Switch's headphone jack to the "line-in" on my computer.

You can also use your phone to record if your capture card doesnt work

what are you doing during runs that you don't do at other times? Like, is there a certain setting that you change, or an application that you have open only during runs?

I would just go on the safe side and use an audio jack from the headphones output on your switch. It is probably more likely to work than the capture card, and it gives you better audio quality too

Here’s a step by step. You get an audio cable. You plug it in to the headphone jack on the switch. You plug the other side into the microphone line in on your desktop computer. If it’s a laptop, you can use the headphone jack and it will still work. In obs you will have to set up a new audio input capture. Just mess around with it until you get it to work.

Basically, I have a cable that's got an audio jack on both ends - like the plug you get on headphones. I plug one end of that into the headphone hole on my switch, and the other end into my computer.

Then do what An_D said with OBS/whatever recording software you use. (If your computer asks you what you plugged in, choose "line in".)

Have you checked your original files that obs is saving? I’ve noticed that sometimes when trying to edit or upload a .mkv file the sound is lost, so I always convert to mp4 to be safe

Does that mean you have to sync the audio if you record it separately? Wouldn't that make it invalid if you did it wrong?

@Hedgehog125 No, if you set up a new capture in obs, it will capture all sources that you tell it to at the same time. This is how streamers do their game, and the webcam, and the mic on the same screen.

Oh yeah. How did I not think of that? :P

No one has to respond to this anymore. I fixed it by switching from reccentral to obs.

Glad you got it figured out.
