Unites for solos

I know people were talking about how if you stream it should count as a co-op but another good rule I think is if a unite gives you an advantage (jbs if your bank isnt full, gags if you need them, and laff if you need it) it should be a co-op. Cause a solo toon would have to ride the trolley or fish to get beans then go to the gag shop, but with a unite another toon could skip one or both of those steps. Same for getting laff.

I mean, during my run some toon brought her Doodle into the fight. It didn't heal me (I was at full laff) but I didn't ask for it. Where do we set the boundaries here? Although a guy just randomly showing up to a specific toon to unite heal/gag up/etc seems extremely fishy.

I think doodles are fine, you could get your own doodle for any run (not practical for ttc) some people tooned me up during my speed run too but I didn't need it. I'm just saying if the unite gives a big advantage it should count as co-op, if it was for jbs and your jar was full (or maybe pretty close) then it would still count as solo.

IMO if it's a toon using a Unite on theirself, I don't see why the run can't stay solo, though I can't really speak since I'm not really in the speedrunning community for this game.

@Sparkpin None of the runs done so far have toons far enough to use unites on themselves anyway, I meant if someone else used it for them

I see it like most of the other things in this game: If you have no idea who the toon is and you are not asking a friend for help in any way, it's perfectly fine to be united by others. Same thing with SOSes, toon-ups, doodles, fires, ect. Now that the solo category is strictly for non-streams only, it eliminates the possibility of other toons uniting to mess with the run's viability. If you have another toon to unite yourself or you ask someone else to help you, it makes the run co-op.

Do you think it becomes co-op if youre standing in front of a building and a toon runs by and you ask for them to help you with it?

Honestly, I'm not really sure. It doesn't exactly break any of the rules because you aren't friending them AND you don't know who they are but it also kinda defeats the point of soloing. I really don't know on that one.

What kind of bugs me about this discussion is, if some random toon decides to use a unite on me without even communicating to them, does it invalidate solo?
