Leaderboards moderation requests thread

I didn't catch up all the way, but I need to get back into work. I'll try to catch up the rest of the posts today or tomorrow.

SeahawkTys: It looks like you were added by a mod.

Horridhenry257: 12 second runs generally aren't sufficient to add games or request mod or whatever else.

Minerali: It looks like your run was added. In general we need someone willing to moderate to add to boards with inactive moderators.

afnannen136: The moderator is active, discuss it with them.

Thursday: Activity is defined by the user logging into the site, not the latest run. The moderator for that game is highly active, please discuss it with them.

LucidJackal: The moderator has logged on recently now, please discuss it with them if possible.

MDK_: Added since the mod never put up a run

shoe: If you could discuss it with the super mods this would be helpful. IWBTG fangames, Minecraft mods, SM64 Rom Hacks, and ROBLOX mods get really cumbersome to process throught the game request form as there are a ton of them and some percentage of them are overly trivial mods. Ideally the site would have functionality to forward these requests directly to series mods. Also series mods can't follow series forum posts currently.

Tron_Javolta: Looks like this got sorted out.

Jumpyluff: Removed him.

Overfiendvip: I'll jump the gun a little bit here and add you given the specific circumstances.

I didn't catch up all the way, but I need to get back into work. I'll try to catch up the rest of the posts today or tomorrow.

Hello, I'd like to request mod for The Last Remnant. I started running this game recently and the current mod hasn't been online for 3 months.

Good evening. Sorry to make another request so soon, but I'd like for Entro (who has been offline for 2 years) and whatsoup to be removed from mod status on SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge due to inactivity. I'd also like for whatsoup to be removed from mod status on SpongeBob's Truth or Square. Cheers.

teddyras: The mod is relatively active, please discuss it with them if possible or wait a bit longer.

DarQ_Massacres: It looks like the run was added.

Sebastian1623: It looks like the game was deleted and requested again or something? I can't see what exactly happened in the logs.

Karrrisa: It looks like the mod was online recently.

CaffinatedYoshi: The mods are highly active, please discuss it with them.

Tedious: The other mods for these games can request this if that's what they want.

Skeletroll: The user was online recently, please discuss it with them. I can't specifically see if it's true that he was offline 10 months before that or not.

giovanni6455: The mod seems active.

death_unites_us: I added you as a regular moderator for now since the forum activity suggests some lack of attention, and this has been brought up previously.

Punchy: Added since the board isn't serving it's purpose particularly well.

Auddy: Added.

NPC: Runs pending, inactive mods, okay.

Hollow648: Run pending, inactive mod, ok.

EchoRoblox: Assuming this is a new game request. Request them preferably through the ROBLOX forum thread here: https://www.speedrun.com/roblox/thread/0s0ct or the site's game request form is another option.

Let me know if I missed anything.

I was the moderator of the Monolith leaderboards until just now. Nobody but Punchy spoke directly to me before this decision was made, and I immediately started being active after the requests were made, which was only 2 days ago. I requested more information from Punchy, such as the location of the external leaderboards, so I could format the boards in a way that the game's community agrees upon, but I couldn't find that external document. Only now, from reading Punchy's post above, have I seen that link. I can easily reformat the boards to match the desired format. I was actively sorting everything out, but now I've been stripped of moderator, despite being active immediately since being first contacted 2 days ago.

At the time I made my first run, there was no Monolith speedrunning community, and nobody contacted me or submitted any runs for 5 months. In that time, the game was continuously in development and a Steam release eventually happened a few months after my speedrun.com run. I had moved on to other games since it seemed nobody was interested in competing, and the developers stopped adding version numbers with the Steam updates. The game was in very heavy development, causing any new runs to immediately require new categories, so I had no direct way to create lasting categories with version numbers. Only 1 time was I contacted about a new run since then before Punchy, and at that time, the runner and I agreed that we couldn't develop the leaderboards very well without version numbers during heavy development. We requested that the devs add version numbers, but they weren't interested.

Only 2 days ago, Punchy requested he be added as moderator. As I have a history in the competitive speedrunning community from long before speedrun.com, I am wary of newcomers, so I tried to explain the situation to him before immediately handing over moderator power. He became rude and angry, insulting me and assuming that I had no idea what was going on. I hadn't been following the Monolith community actively, but directed to the right place, I can easily keep up and moderate. With that said, Punchy persisted in acting very very rudely, and it made me definitely not want to give him moderator powers, as it seemed likely he wouldn't handle them properly with a good spirit of competition. I had already verified and accepted his submitted run though, and was looking for constructive feedback on improving the boards.

I'm requesting that I, at least, am added back as moderator. I suspect Punchy will remove my Demo 5 category, which is still a legitimate separate category for the game, especially because it's a free download, so anyone can compete in it. At the time I made the run, it was the full game, also.

TL;DR: Game's speedrunning community didn't exist for months after I made original board and run 9 months ago. Game was in heavy development and changing a lot every update, so I did other things temporarily. As soon as I was contacted 2 days ago, I started working on the leaderboards and processed all submissions, and in the process of getting feedback about what was wanted, I was stripped of moderator status without enough communication.

Can you provide proof of the conversation between you and Punchy? I'm not sure if you should post it here but if you could at least provide it to an Admin it might help your case. @Buju

It was public, on Twitter. Punchy has me blocked there now so I can't link directly to the first post, but it all started there. Here's Punchy's profile, at least. https://twitter.com/Succinct_Punchy

In the amount of time it took you to make this post, I've already fixed the boards.

you don't run the fullgame and refused to pass the board to people who do, end of story. I was rude to you, because you obstinately refused to cop to this logic and trying to give you "feedback" so you can moderator for a game you haven't finished would be like trying to moderate via Chinese whispers.

It's in the hands of people who actually play the friggin game now.

"TL;DR: Game's speedrunning community didn't exist for months"

ignores the google doc that's existed for months because nobody wanted to deal with you squatting the board

pull the other one, mate

The boards are nicely formatted in most other ways, but you still have no version-related information per run. Since that's the case, bugs will be fixed or not fixed and runs will haphazardly be compared with each other while some runners were able to exploit particular bugs or new weapons and mechanics, and other runners weren't. I was worried you might not consider that, and it's turned out my worry has been justified. It's important to have a version field for a game in heavy development. How about an exe timestamp field? There should be at least something distinguishing between versions.

Also, sudden lethality runs should not be compared with normal lethality runs, as the lethality greatly varies the damage the player does and changes the entire balance of the game. A normal lethality run requires more time and different weapon choices due to ammo.

Edit after Punchy's reply below: OK. I've moved discussion of this to the Monolith forum.

This isn't the thread for this plus the actual community of people doing runs do not particularly share your opinion on this, sorry.

In spore our super mod is inactive and kinglyvalence would like you be able to add more mods so can you make kinglyvalence a super modarator? https://www.speedrun.com/Spore/full_game Here's is the link

I would like to claim ownership on the Nioh leaderboards: https://www.speedrun.com/nioh . The reason being that of the two super mods, one of them (dekuking) has not been active in 5 months, and the other (MIST) doesn't want to facilitate changes to the categories and rules that are obscure and incomplete. Please use this thread by DenZve for reference as to how it will be changed: https://www.speedrun.com/nioh/thread/hah44 . The thread was also posted in the Nioh speedrunning discord.

I am requesting to be upgraded to a Super Mod on the Spore speed running page. I contacted the only other Super about a year ago and this individual said he was done with Spore, I can provide proof. I have been a standard mod since August 2016 after joining the small community in March of 2016. I was given mod by a Super who is no longer with the site. Since becoming a mod a have helped reshape a terribly disorganized leader board, solidified the timing rules, brought in many community members, and achieved the full game WR. https://www.speedrun.com/Spore

Just want to chime in on the issue with the Monolith boards and say that if Buju is an active user that verified runs and was making changes to the board in the last week then should he not still be a moderator for the game? The point of the thread afterall isn't to usurp active mods and Buju clearly has made changes within the month (what seems to be the cut off time for requesting moderator status in a game). Beyond that I'm sure there are mods of other games that only run 1 or 2 of the games categories despite many games having many categories, and that also shouldn't exempt him as mod. And finally as a side note I think he properly responded to hostility and rudeness, becoming rude the moment you get a response that is something other than "sure I'll hand you mod" doesn't exactly help your case for becoming moderator.

Yes, he made changes. Bad ones that nobody actually doing runs wanted.

I really don't think I can emphasise this enough. He has not even finished the game. He didn't do "a run of some categories". He ran a demo and has been holding the board ever since.

If you don't run a game, yes that should absolutely disqualify you from modding it. This is completely open and shut logic and I don't know what plane of reality you operate on if you think otherwise.

Me being an asshole doesn't really have anything to do with that logic. I completely don't care what you think of our conversation. Boards should be ran by people who play the game and it's frustrating that he and you are attempting to encourage this bullshit dancing around the core point. We run it, he doesn't. End of goddamn story.

there are games I have on the site where I am the only runner for over a year, if someone comes to run it and there were updates I didnt know of should I be kicked as mod for someone else? I don't think so.

If you ignore a board and it's community for like half a year then yes you probably should lose your mod.

Also again, to reemphasize the part both of you have completely fucking ignored. He doesn't run the game. He ran a half game demo. The games been out since July. He's had time.
