Here you can make suggesions for possible categories and rules.

Category - Ladders (No Gears only) - Difficulty (Very Easy to Very Hard) [Full Game]:

  1. Beginner Ladder - Timer starts when selecting a character with no gear and stops on final hit on Brainiac.
  2. Intermediate Ladder - Timer starts when selecting a character with no gear and stops on final hit on Brainiac.
  3. Advance Ladder - Timer starts when selecting a character with no gear and stops on final hit on Brainiac.

Category - Tutorial [Individual]: Timer starts when selecting a character and stops on the final input of the selected character.

I prefer to exclude the tutorials from speedruning i havent checked them in this game but it feels more of a meme category.

About the ladders we could go only very easy and very hard no gear lvl20 as lvl1 bane did more dmg on lvl1 char no gear than lvl20 bane to lvl20 no gear making gameplay faster with lvl1s. Level ups affect here too much on the stats so we need to make a rule on them too.

Havent done any ladder yet but does oppoment still use gear or if so is it possile to turn them down aswell?

Opponents do use gears on the ladder. So should we put a separate category, one for gears and the other no gears, both at level 20?

Id say start with a couple categories and work from there. Add more if people show interest in them, otherwise you get a bunch of empty leaderboards and thats not appealing to look at.

Good job starting this JerQ_Q, I was gonna do it but I figured theres no point since I wont actually run the game for a few months at least, not until the Tournament season is over, so like December probs.

Your right shade, I do like this game and I needed some practice before I can actually speed run them. I thought if we make it look professional along with adding a few runs on either twitch or youtube people would eventually get into it. Apologies if I was rushing into things.

Survival can be another category as well, still with the lvl20 gears and lvl20 w/no gears.

Nah dont apologise, Im just trying to provide insight from my experiences moderating games, more specifically my time as a mod on MKX. I think its better to start with a couple categories. The game is still being fleshed out, and generally its easier to get into a speedgame when everyones on the same page (as in if someone is playing the game casually and want to maybe run it, they might be turned off by 10 or more categories, especially if those categories are empty, if that makes sense). Also, I think it might be better for you guys as well, so you can focus on optimising the main categories before branching off into side categories, like different difficulties. As an early runner you may feel obligated to run the category just because its on the leaderboard.

Just my opinion, as i wont be running the game for a while. Dont take this as marching orders or anything lol.

Advanced Ladder (No Gear) should be the first added and see how that does first. Just think there should be more than just story speedrun for a fighting game.

very easy should also be the default difficulty imo, though I dont think we should disallow runs on higher difficulties. Difficult to optimise higher difficulties as more RNG will be present. Higher difficulties will also increase the amount of luck involved, and no one wants to go against a run with god rng. Makes player skill a little more meaningful, and removes clutter from the leaderboard.

IMO.

I agree Very Easy should be the least RNG and if it is popular enough I would say have a Very Hard run in the future.

I have been busy lately so i havent had time to run ladders. Have anyone tested if you can turn down also oppoments gear/abilities?

If not that becomes aswell a problem in runs rng wise. Catwoman has 9 lives ability that resurects her like jason did in mkx. And gear stats becomes factor for consistent runs hp/armored oppoments may take 1 more cycle per round during your runs maybe even more. Getting many of them during runs may quickly kill your runs even tho ur execution would be perfect.

should we try this: Ladder - Advance Default Difficulty - Medium or Higher Gears - Optionally Accepted (Better Gears means Better Runs)

And unfortunately the player can't remove opponents gears during the ladder, if a player sees catwoman they have an option of leaving and restarting the run. And since the opponents the player face is random except Brainiac so are their gears so this like a gamble version of a speed run. I'll start practicing the run and let everyone know how it goes on a new forum.

I think it should be any difficulty, Advanced Ladder but no Gear allowed. It is unfair if someone has gear that others cant get because of RNG loot drops. Enemy AI having gear is different and honestly shouldnt affect runs too much, just small differences in health which is already rng because certain characters have more health naturally.

Gear might be cool down the line but not yet.

But we all know Bane with his Supercharged trait will be the fastest :P

true for the difficulty, but maybe we can put two different category for both gear and no gear, they have a 3 to 4 min difference during the run maybe even less.

The basic stats in comp mode are balanced the way damage calc is in mkx for example. Superman doing the same amount amount damage to different amount healthed oppoments in precentage. Higher healthed oppoments tend to have less defence and vise versa leaving the effective health same without gear. Im not sure if there was couple of exeptions on the charachters having more or less effective health. Its a list of wonderchef made about the charachters but cant find the google doc right now. Ill try to find it/ask for it.

Got a quick response from Wonderchef so here you go

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17l2H2DFEnkaGUbThh1J0mEdTcTlBMvTDamE-8re9FqQ/htmlview

The effective health is a larger scale appereantly so i have been miss informed but yea trying to gather as many low effective health charachters will probably make the run go faster

Hey everybody, I just wanted to let everyone know I went ahead and condensed some of the boards and added sub categories for Story mode. If you want me to add Difficulties to the Ladder and survival modes just let me know.
