absolutely nobody is stopping you from doing segmented runs for the purpose of practice

just segmented runs generally aren't competitive, and this is a leaderboard focused website. Most people do in fact, do segments for practice because that is how you git gud.

this is bad thread

Please keep this forum in english, and non insulting.

England

you appear to have bones to pick with individual communities

You probably want to ask them, rather than complaining here.

I still want to note that nothing in particular stops you from running under the conditions you like to run under.

oh no, people decide to have runs where you run the game in one sitting, oh no. that's not real speedrunning, you don't go as fast as segmented runs, and it's much less skill having to get consistent at the whole game rather than repeating one thing until you get it. and oh no, people run on the easiest difficulty to go faster, oh no, that's totally related to restarting every section under non-timed conditions and then timing the fastest attempts of each section altogether.

I suggest using your brain for a little while longer before typing.

France

So you're just sharing with us your venom about how bad it is to not have multi-segment categories, without any intention of participating on any leaderboard here, and telling us that you won't propose us your WR on a game that we don't even know because you didn't mention it.

Interesting. And this is very smart to blame the entire website about stuff like mixing easy and hard, without noticing that each game here has its own story to explain or justify why the categories are like this (That doesn't mean there is nothing to change or improve).

Website bad for my taste = bunch of elitist people ?

What is this accomplishing?

We've given you your answers, you've been nonstop hostile, and now you're just spamming your own videos in this thread.

Most of our work/training/tryhard is to do decent full runs, IL leaderboards are mainly here to have vods about how to play levels the fastest way possible. The final goal is generally to do full runs.

What you're looking for is more close to TAS or Superplay than speedrun, because according to what you say, the performance itself or the beauty you see from it is more important than the time it needs to be done.

Sometimes MS or TAS runs help us to see what's possible or not for a game to accomplish, but that's all. Most of us have no intention to become champions of ILvideomaking%

In some games the hardest difficulty can turn out to be the fastest, but those cases are usually fewer than games where the easiest difficulty is the fastest. Im not really sure what your point is about easy vs hard difficulty anyway.

Again, run whatever game on whatever difficulty you like and if you have an issue with the way LBs are handled for a game, bring it up with the LB mods.

So basically you're mostly targeting me because my run isn't good enough for you ? Well i don't give a shit. I practiced and this is the best i've done so far.

Plus, if you don't like the rules or categories (difficulty settings precisely), then don't watch and ask the actual communities about it instead of making a topic where none of them are gonna be looking at.

At this point, you just keep ranting instead of trying to look for actual "solutions". Or maybe that was what you wanted to begin with ? Just rant and cry for attention ? Either way, stop that shit.

uh im not sure what your yelling about dude, but stop crying like a baby and just submit ur fucking run. i cant decipher what your arguing about but i moderate for mgs games and will verify your runs if they're legit. just calm down first.

segmented run is faster than single segment run despite difficulty discrepancy

Water is also wet.

i'm not sure what you're complaining about, you linked the MG3 board. The board that shows majority preference for people running on the hardest difficulty and doing it not a great deal slower than a segmented run. Isn't that like, exactly what you want?

MGS1's top times are on Extreme, MGS2's leaderboard actively fucking defaults to European Extreme.

What the HELL are you complaining about? Most of the MGS players agree with you, you fruitloop, they find it more interesting to run on the harder difficulty settings. You seem pissed that some people at some point did it on Easy despite that clearly not being the majority preference for MGS runners. Who cares? I'm amazed that you have the balls to complain about everyone else being elitist when the crux of your argument is extrapolating a minority of Easy runners out to that entire community and being a snobbish jackass about other people's runs.

Just play the damn game how you prefer instead of being an obtuse douche about the way a very small number of people prefer to play it.

whats funnier is Peace Walker has no difficulty adjustment, so him posting PW literally did nothing.

England

like if he wants to argue about the decline of the segmented run then that's actually a fairly interesting and nuanced historical thing that goes in tandem with how speedrunning culture has changed over time with new developments in technology making it easier to record long chunks of video without having to split it across a bunch of VHS/DVDs, the widespread adoption of streaming and a bunch of other more complicated factors. It's a lot more complex of a thing than everyone just going "we've decided we like to do single segment now". If he wants to talk about that, I'm totally down to spot someone a history lesson.

his complaint about easy mode in MGS seemingly comes from absolutely nowhere though, he's bitching about a community that largely already agrees with him about what difficulty to play on.
