Removing "rockstar" from 100% (Rockstar)

I think we should have a vote to remove "rockstar" from 100% in the name as it is a dumb category name.

In a talk with Kyle, he makes a good point that most 100% categories in GTA games don't include everything so why should this be any different? Leave the rules the same, just put the name as "100%".

basically just post the letter for your vote (and reason why if you have any I guess):

a) Rename to "100%" b) Keep "100% (Rockstar)"

This is because, according to the game, this is 100%. It's synonymous with Rockstar 100%, and having the word "Rockstar" there is kinda pointless. You can discount my opinion if you'd like (as I don't run GTA5) but this has zero to do with the game, and more to do with what it actually is as a category.

Also, if you take a look at SA, 100% on the leaderboard is named simply as "100%", and not "100% (Rockstar)". There is viability for a separate "True 100%" category in SA as well, so my suggestion is to rename current "100% (Rockstar)" to just "100%", and add a "True 100%" in due time (i.e. when people actually do it).

Not a single person that's posted has ever run the game besides Ryedawg. Let us keep our category names to ourselves. Rockstar 100% is because Rockstar designed 100% to where you can complete it even if you kill either Mike or Trevor, that's the only reason you don't have to do a number of missions.

M_tt plz Kappa

I've unlocked the thread for now to see if anyone else does want to share their opinions.

I don't know who came up with the "100% (Rockstar)" name (although someone seems to have renamed it to "Rockstar 100%" now) but I'm fine with changing it because it fits with the other GTAs. It also fits with the other "true" 100% ideas that S. and others have been coming up with (100%+, 100%++, 100%+++).

A. Whether someone has run the game before is irrelevant. A is the only correct decision when you examine the facts.

GTA III 100% doesn't include Securicar Garage Exports GTA SA 100% doesn't include Burglaries, Beat the Cock, videogames, Unique Stunt Jumps, etc. GTA TLAD and TBOGT 100% don't include the 25 extra gang wars needed to unlock all the weapons.

All of these categories are defined with the in-game definition, when a more correct 100% could be defined by the players, and none of them have something dumb like "Oh by the way this is the definition the game developers intended" in the category name.

I don't understand why GTA V runners keep trying their hardest to distance themselves from the rest of the GTA speedrunning community, but I guess this thread isn't supposed to open that particular can of worms.

@Powdinet: But it's not like we all decided on that name just because we were trying to be "different" or anything; I'm guessing Nord came up with the name and then hardly anyone else has ran the category so no one ever cared enough. Funnily enough I'm wondering why this wasn't brought up sooner. I guess I never brought it up because of how much isn't actually needed for 100% (it's a lot less than the older games) so I thought the name was fine, but now I think about it, just calling it 100% would be fine too.

I asked Dates in his chat and he agreed with choice A too, so I am going to change it.

I will leave this thread open in case anyone else wants to say anything, but I doubt it.

Im working on a document in collab with Nord/Velocinator where Im writing down everything that could be included in 'true 100%' category and will open this up to the public once I have something that makes sense. I don't refer to it as 'true 100%' though, because the counter on social clab/stats screen clearly says 100%, whether it is 'true' or not. The word 'true' is ambiguous. Does true mean 'as the devs intended' or does 'true' mean 'everything'? Instead, I am referring to it as 100%++. Other options are 200%, or 'all content' or whatever creative we can come up with. I think the naming of this bigger category is more important than the smaller category's.

When Nord ran the category, debate was going on about how shit R¤ 100% definition is, and many questions were asked whether Nord's run was R¤ 100%, or the other one. This confusion never existed for the older GTA's runs; while it is dumb and surprising that Bus Driver isn't part of VC 100%, or the USj aren't part of SA 100%, people never questioned whether runs should include these or not, and thus the label 'Rockstar Games' was never needed to be appended there.

But because the confusion DID exist for GTA5, Nord thought that at the time using option B would be the best solution, and he made the correct decision. (the fact that this confusion exists once again proves my point that gta5 really is a horrendously bad game, but that's an aside.)

However, the confusion has faded so changing to option A for consistency is indeed something I would have voted for, had the voting period not already ended. In order to make this option work though, it is essential that the future 'actually everything' category gets a proper, non-ambiguous name that makes it clear that it is indeed more than just 100%. I will make a post about this once its time is due. people interested in the category before that, please PM me.
