So there's potentially a ton of different things you could turn into categories for this game. For now I have only added the Shadow Lord category in, and as time moves on I will add more as long as people are actually going to do runs of the category.

As much fun as a "Take a level 1 character from Windurst to San d'Oria" category would be, I would like to avoid adding a ton of arbitrary race categories if possible, but I would love to see people actually racing some of these things on SpeedRunsLive at some point.

For now the only things I see being realistic are: Shadow Lord Rank 10 Rhapsodies of Vanadiel Level 99

If people want to do runs of each of the expansions separately, then I'm all for it, but I would like to avoid actually adding a category for it until someone actually does a run.

Any further input is appreciated at this point.

Please add the Level 99 category. I suggest also adding a category for Level 99 (EXP+) with altered rules.

The rules I followed are outlined on my speedrun notes. I'll submit my run properly once there's a place for it. In the meantime you can see it here:

The category has been added. If you don't mind when submitting it would you also list the campaigns that were going on during your run as well as Kupopowers. If I need to change anything in the rules, let me know.

What do you think about a fairly short category? Perhaps something like Level 10, Unlock Support Job, or Rank 3. The shortest main category on the leaderboard right now is over 9 hours, so I was wondering what people's opinions are for adding something that you don't need to set aside your entire day to complete.

Traditionally, a speedrun aims for "completion" of a game, or at least reaching some milestone. Reaching level cap (either 50 or 99), defeating Maat, or finishing a major storyline (e.g. Shadow Lord fight) seem like perfectly fine goals. The ones you described, not so much. Unlocking support job doesn't even require skill anymore, you just get to 18 and then do RoV chapter 1-1.

There's no reason a category has to be ungodly long! If you can think of something that feels like a major achievement, feel free to suggest something.

As another idea, I would be 100% cool with adding an Individual Levels leaderboard for battlefields, if there is interest (and videos). Kill everything solo i119!

Fair enough. I can see myself running a more significant feat like Rank 10 or defeat Maat as a full-game/completion category. Level leaderboards sound like fun as well for the more minor goals.

Would it be possible to add a category such as "Shadow Lord with an Advanced job" This would be for people that want to beat the Shadow Lord without the pressure of taking a Basic job to the level 50's? It would have the same rules apart from Shadow Lord must be defeated with an Advanced job. Let me know what you think.

I don't see how this is substantively different from a typical Shadow Lord run. What "pressure" are you speaking of? Would you still be starting from a fresh character?

England

If we take a look at the Shadow Lord run as it currently stands. A speed runner who takes a basic job to level 50+ has a time advantage over a speed runner who takes their basic job to level 30, then needs to:

  1. Unlock a Job
  2. 29 levels "behind" due to starting at level 1 a second time As a result the speed runner who is unlocking the advanced job is naturally losing time and will be less competitive than the speed runners that take their basic job to level 50+ straight away.

Yes a new character would be created, just like the standard Shadow Lord run.

You are more than welcome to use any job you like in a run, but you are going to lose time by going out of your way to unlock a different one. There is no reason to create a separate category because you don't like using the jobs that are available from the start.

Is there any chance if someone wanted to do it that they'd allow a variant of run doing it duo or trio with friends?
