Requiring videos for all runs, even in miscellaneous categories, is overboard and harmful to the metagame's development and comunity.

I love how the player's page protocol works flawlessly for the entire mkw community. It's well thought out, simplified, and flawless. Except here, this is the only place you're required to buy a 200$ smartphone // capture card (plus storage space) to record long (multiple hours) and short videos. And thanks for removing my old times. I thought old times before a rule change happen are still kept.

It's also a fucking hassle, in many cases. Obviously, videos are necessary in some cases, but this is overboard now.

I will not be competing here anymore as a result, unfortunately, for a plethora of reasons.

You can get an EasyCap for $10 or a decent webcam for $20-30 and delete small recordings to not take up a lot of space but OK you probably won't be missed.

Not sure why you created a new thread. You can view my original response in this thread: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/thread/s2755/1#u75xx

There was a demand to add specific video requirements for each individual cup category. Even you asked for this change: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/thread/c029i/1#pi0as

The time requirements set were not "overboard". They were set to be within the same margin that the 32/Nitro/Retro categories were, which is about 4%.

I created the thread before I wrote that post.

I meant having -this rule- is overboard.

I wasn't suggesting we use videos, lol. (in fact, in that same thread, right below my post F says "I agree video proof should be required for any run." in which I respond " Strongly disagree . Only top top times should require this."

I was saying the "4%" values were obviously not used there. And that a WR itself would not require video proof. Also, misc categories are less strict.

Frickin Fricks, are you gonna buy me the new windows computer to run it cause all i go is a 2011 chromebook.

i don't have $30 and weve already spoent hundreds on mkw. you're also biased and still salty about previous issues, so i will continute to ignore you and only you.

I find you annoying but I'm not actively mad at you. tbh it seems like you're the one getting pretty angry about things because they aren't working out 100% exactly how you want them to.

If you just need to record speedruns and you're tight on cash, there is absolutely no reason to blow $200 on a smartphone. Buy something used. I bought an old smartphone on ebay for $20 last year, and I was looking for a very specific phone. If you just need a camera, you could probably manage to find one for as cheap as $12. A permanent video, even a low quality one, is better than having nothing.
