Lucas TV skip

I played through and beat the game for the first time today, casually. After beating the game, I decided to watch Captain_Ezekiel's WR run. I enjoy watching speedruns of a game that I just beat. Anyways, I noticed something that was different from my playthrough.

After I obtained the red and blue keycards and entered the little room with the TV and chair. When I sat down and watched the TV, the TV instantly exploded and I was back on my feet. I could hear Lucas talking through the broken TV, but there was no picture on the screen and the glass on the TV was shattered (completely busted). I was free to leave the room right away, but I stayed to hear him out since I was still just enjoying my first playthrough of the game. I don't think I did anything special, I just interacted with the chair normally when I entered the room. When I watched Captain_Ezekiel's run, I saw that he had to sit through entire Lucas' TV presentation and it was the first time I saw Lucas' TV presentation.

I played on PC(Steam) with the DX12 update that just came out yesterday. Also, this might have something to do with the skip. I run Linux Mint on my computer, I used Steam Play "Proton." Just the default proton setting as of typing this, I didn't use any special proton compatibility settings. Aside from just this, the game ran completely perfect with no glitches at all.

Just thought I'd share, maybe something you guys could investigate and use as a time save.

Yeah I’ve seen that happen before, I’m not sure if it’s by chance or if there’s a consistent method

That's crazy if true. There have only been 2 instances of that occuring and recorded. It is currently stated that any speedruns with the TV skip will be rejected as it's a inconsistent method and believed to be a hardware malfunction. If you have a recording of you getting the TV skip, please share it in the discord.

The funny thing was that I was wondering if TV skip or some other skip with OoB or something could be found with the new update. But yeah, any recording or information would be great help in us finding the skip, because it can save like 3 minutes because that's a long cutscene.

I don't know if this matters either, but, another thing, I have a 1080p 144hz refresh rate monitor and was playing it at that fps. I keep Steam's fps counter active and it displayed 144fps on the top corner of my screen throughout the entire playthrough. So add that to the variables surrounding how this happened

Thank you for the information, if you could possibly try getting it again and recording it, that would be major help
