I'm looking to pick up speedrunning this game, and I'd like to practice in emulator but do my runs on a real console. I'd like to do this in the japanese version due to it being the predominant version on the leaderboard (I assume it's because it makes the text boxes faster). The rules say you can't load the game through unofficial means such as USB loading, but does this count bypassing a region-lock restriction on a real disc (If I were to buy such a disc)? I have a hacked US Wii U, and I believe using something like USB Loader GX will let me play a disc intended for another region.

If its via a USB loader than no. But if you have homebrew that lets you play using a JP disc on Wii, that is allowed. You still would need a JP disc, or you could use WiiU VC.

Yeah, I meant the latter (saying USB loader gx probably made it unclear). It's just that those apps usually let you load from disc just with the region unlocking tacked on. Thanks!
