Hi! I'm Etereke, and I'm new here (no surprise here). A friend showed me what speedrunning is a few months ago. I was not so fond of it at first, I'm kind of a completionist, so at first I thought that speedrunning kind of destroys the purpose of games. However, after watching some speedruns, I realized how much effort can go into planning an optimal route and how much skill is needed to execute a top run, and that you have to know the game inside out to be successful at it. So now I view it as another way to play games, and since it seems fun, I'd like to try it for myself. I haven't played any of the popular classics like pokemon or zelda, so I'd like to start with something newer. My choice falls for Lisa: The Painful RPG. This game captivated me, and I saw that there are not many who tried speedrunning it yet. I know, it's not something you might want to speedrun, but I want to try it nonetheless.
So, onto the questions. First, how do you do a speedrun? What are the specific rules? I searched this website, and couldn't find anything about the rules. Could somebody point me in the right direction? Another question: I have a bit of a problem with the site: I can't log in, only in a private tab. I'm using Firefox, and when I try to log in from a normal tab, it says the welcome thing, but then nothing happens. I tried restarting my computer, but still only works in a private window. Does somebody know what the problem might be, or where can I post a thread on this forum about it?
For the login thing, make sure you're using https:// instead of http://. There is a bug with the site that prevents logins frequently when not using https:// If you want a direct link, use this: https://www.speedrun.com/
Hopefully that fixes that issue.
As for rules, there are no global rules for speedrunning really (other than don't cheat I guess, but that's obvious). Instead, you can find the rules on the Leaderboards for each game you want to run. Each game will have their own rules for you to follow. On the page for Lisa: The Painful RPG, you can see the "Rules" button right here
If you have any additional questions about runs of that game or the rules for that game, ask in the game's forums and the mods of the game will be glad to help you.

Red = Rules Each category has different rules Orange = Categories Yellow = Sub Categories some games have these
Also, your login problem is something the admins are currently working on. Use https for now and it should work.

I'm a little late, but welcome! If you watch specific people run games, try to find them on the leaderboard. If you need a sub 15 run to jump into, I recommend playing Obey the Game. I just requested that the game be put up on the website, so if you want to know the category, let me know. However, even a casual playthrough of the game is quick.
