Buffer Strats?

I've been trying to learn the speedrun from a couple guides and a bunch of videos. I'm up to the major circuit and trying to recreate the buffer strats I'm seeing on some of the videos here is proving inconsistent for Dragon Chan and especially Bob Charlie (I'm like a couple frames early or late more than half the time).

Any good tutorials you can recommend?

I just started practicing the Gabby Jay buffer strat tonight. You might even be able to help me with some of the details there, like how to throw the KO punch in the earliest frame possible (I.e. when to press A while Mac is throwing the buffer punch). Btw, have u done a full run without buffer strats?

I've played the game casually but trying to guess the instant-knockdown timings without buffers was proving way harder than buffering which mostly just the exception of Bob so far.

I'm not quite sure on fastest possible moments. My Gabby Jay which I've been copying from Zallard's video has just been duck for as long as possible, right body blow, super uppercut, and I've managed a 6.28 with that once (I think the fastest Gabby Jay on US is 6.26 or 6.23)

I actually have practiced timing, though buffer strats are useful for fine-tuning and shaving your time when you pull them off. I don’t know if you can watch my run before it gets approved, but it might help you time your dizzy KD punches against Bob Charlie and Dragon Chan. (Not so much against Heike :P).

Yeah, whoah let's keep this thread alive. How the FUCK does anybody buffer rapid punches like you would against Heike? I can only get it maybe 30% of the time. I hold the button pre-"FIGHT!" and try to time hitting it again right after that sound is over. Is this the most effective way to do it and I just need to practice the timing? Or is there another strategy I'm not aware of?

That's exactly what I do, livefast. I think the error that occurs most often in that situation is to release and re-tap too early. But if you're hitting it again completely after the "FIGHT!" sound is over that may be too late as well. I try to react sort of just after hearing "FIE" but I suppose it would depend on how your reflexes are and maybe even whether you're using a console or an emulator. Practice a bit and I'm sure you'll find your sweet spot and hit it way more often.
