Why is @Jaypin88 banned?

It’s definitely 4 different counts of cheating. By your logic you can steal 365 runs all at once but as long as you get caught ONLY once it counts as 1 offense and you deserve “another chance.” One more chance I promise! And one more after that one more chance!! Oh come on just one more. Nah I think I’m good. How about no more chances. That sounds like the easy/best solution.

its multiple accounts of cheating. But you get your second chance after you get caught generally. No cheater ever only cheated only once, and nobody thinks they only cheated once. So there are only two options: giving out the option to come clean after they are caught maybe some months maybe years of ban (depending on how bad and if they actually regret it) and then let them back with more supervision and requirements or just permaban from the start.

Everything else is honestly insincere and a waste of discussion.

Pretty sure he made that second video for me to see it and plead his case, after I sent him this message.

It's not just the sonic series mods who have decided this, I also asked the other sonic mods and they're happy with this decision. No one in the sonic series wants him back!

He wants me to hear him out after he gaslights me and another series mod in a video. Claims I'm untrustworthy, a bad moderator, I back stabbed him and is out to get him. Also blocks me on twitter, yeah that's really going to help your case.

Oh I'm sorry I did my job as a moderator and investigate you stealing people's videos when someone came to me. I'm sorry were you expecting to me say no and ignore it! He could've talked to me first about it, nope straight up blocked because 'I'm out to get him'. I know it's possible that he might've forgot, but still looks bad to me when he could've talked to me about it first. I'm not really that hard to get a hold off. The whole thing still looks sus to me.

i assume he thought all moderators handle "big youtube" cheaters like the java team treated dream at the start.

@Servalot would like to clarify. in your situation its the same 4 charges 1 trial. bot 1 charge 1 trial next charge next trial next charge next trial etc. no its 1 trial with 4 counts or 1 big crime. its 1 big vs 4 seperate where he was charged convicted in 4 trials. thats the only point. not that the punishment is different or the crime is weaker. just 1 trial if you want to use that instead of instance and 4 counts.

all im saying is he wasnt caught on 4 seperate occasions. this is the 1st occasion with multople accounts of cheating. he wasn't caught then given another chance and caught again etc. its a small distinction. but i do still stand by that.

1st time caught 4 videos at the minimum

Edit: since jaypin is still deleting comments and blocking users. I'm out. was hopeful from the growth between 1 and 2 vids. was hoping to see it continue that direction, but went backwards instead.

I haven't logged in since this past friday, nor have I seen all the posts here and went straight to responding to all of this only because throughout the past 3 days I had major fears and anxiety build up in me, as if these were threats, I know it sounds like I was going way over my head but after some runners today had commented saying that it wasn't the case and that I'd simply make a response to this forum, here it is.

During the time in 2015 (6 years ago), I had re-uploaded somebody elses runs, the game was Sonic CD 2011, 4 ILs to be exact, and those specifically being Stardust Speedway Zone 1 & 2 in 1 video, and Metallic Madness Zone 1 & 2 in another video. At the time I re-uploaded those videos I was 16, still in highschool, and simply at the time as well, it was when I didn't care about my YouTube channel, not compared to how much I sincerely cared & stayed dedicated to it now for the past 3 - 4 years straight, but also at the time when I had re-uploaded those ILs, I was not seriously thinking that doing this sort of thing was completely wrong to begin with. It was just those 4 ILs in question. Fast forward around the middle of 2019, I was an idiot of all things having to submit them to the IL Leaderboard, saying that these were "Super old runs I did a long time ago."

During that evening the situation had happened (May 2nd), I didn't know what the reason was, didn't know anything until the following day which was Monday. Eventually during Monday evening, Zurgriff had sent me a post about what the reason was, being the 4 ILs mentioned. I had apologized about it to not only him but also the Sonic SRC Mod Team, as I mentioned that speedrunning really means a lot to me, and am willing to do whatever it takes to redeem myself. Then the following Tuesday morning I looked back at the 4 ILs through my manager, and insisted on deleting both videos with the 4 ILs because I thought it was a step in the right direction. Fast forward 3 weeks later at the end of May, I had a holiday off of school (May 24th), and I thought I would go out of my way the entire day to focus on doing my own runs of the 4 ILs, because I knew I had the ability to do it on my own, while thinking this was another step in the right direction. I have all 4 IL runs uploaded on a speedrun playlist on my YouTube channel if wanting to see them, while also still having the video sessions individually.

In the "breaking my silence" video, I wanted to make it an apology video, but I had shown some frustrations. It was never my intention to sound mean-spirited or rude at all. While calling out 2 runners in the video, it was wrong as well, I just simply had 2 questions on mind that I wanted to ask. I had made an update video just yesterday while trying to be in a more calm state of mind. Something that I should bring up that I did mention in the update video was that I apologize for deleting a couple of runners comments as I felt that they were negative, and usually reading negative comments builds back up anxiety, and my heart starts pounding crazy. It was mentioned by a couple of sonic runners here earlier today that I should make both videos public on full display, so that's exactly what I did.

Overall, it was careless, irresponsible, naive, and like said in the "breaking my silence" video I made last week, an idiot of all things. I can't help that I came down on myself heavy during the past 3 months, went into a deep depression for the first time in my life, almost lost hope on everything, especially when I still had a lot going on with school, but somehow someway I was able to keep my head held high and keep going with speedrunning, content creating, and music. There's already been a lot of inconviences this year that I've never been through before, but for this to had happened, being one of those things, was a serious gut punch to me. There's a lot of positive people here on SRC that have made an impact on me to really stay at a positive mindset, and to especially keep a mindset to Never Give Up. I want to still be positive in turning things around, if it means having to change my setup on runs, I'll do it, if it means having to show my entire desktop for every run I do, then I'll do it, if it means I should show my keyboard or controller inputs on screen more, then I'll do just that. But again, just anyway that I can redeem myself, I want to be able to do just that.

At this point, all of this has taken a major concern on my health. Not having to eat the past 3 days, and during the following week of the situation was barely able to eat & sleep for 4 days straight. I hate that its been bothering me crazy every single day since the day it happened. I can't help that I made getting this situation resolved a top priority ahead of my own health and education to focus on school, but if everyone reacting to this finds it in their heart to hear me out, allow me to redeem myself for the fatal mistake. Speedrunning has truly been something that's really impacted me for more than the span I've been here (4 - 5 years), and it's something that I want to be able to stay dedicated with, while also wanting to continue this journey with everyone for a very long time.

I cannot express this enough, I apologize for what I did 6 years ago.

The fact you posted here already is a good step forward, and I commend that.

I cannot say whether you are being genuine or not - I couldn't before, I can't now - but I am all up for redemptions. However... ... the fact still remains that plagiarism is a very serious thing, and it's nigh impossible to come back from it, because of the consequences it causes, the main one of them being this overwhelming doubt on whether the content is really from the person or not. While I do agree that there are measures to actively show that someone is indeed "doing the thing", the results of previous actions will still be tagging along with your name wherever a submission happens, so it could naturally be quite difficult for some people/communities to accept your runs in the future.

One thing that needs to be pointed out is that no one can forbid you from speedrunning. Being banned or restricted from SRC does not mean you are not allowed to play any game as fast as you can, and this should be obvious. You can still do what you like, but please, do understand that some communities may not feel comfortable welcoming you into their leaderboards - and it is their right to protect the integrity of their community's interests. And in the event that some communities are not eager to give you a second chance, take that as a learning opportunity, which hopefully means that you will never pass other people's content as your own ever again. (I'd highly encourage you to come clean on whether you did it elsewhere/in other occasions and if you did, what did you do and how. Because it will be easier on you that you come clean, than if someone manages to stumble upon yet another case).

I should make it clear: I have nothing against you, as a person, as a runner. I don't know you personally, I just know of your runs. I know you're a good runner and that you didn't have the need to resort to what you did - I say this as someone who studied a couple of your Knuckles Runs before this happened. I do have an issue with rule breaking and stealing though, which is why one of my major issues wasn't with you but with how the videos were presented and the content in them - namely name-dropping three people, one unrelated to the subject and two who were just doing their jobs as moderators of a community. I appreciate that you finally apologise to two of them, only one of them left, and, of course, the runner whose runs were misappropriated - they were kept nameless in public, so I'd probably encourage you to DM them and apologise, should that still be an option. My other main issue is SRC - and it is a global issue with everyone in the know - and the lack of transparency. I think that even you would agree that someone who breaks the rules deserves some punishment, and a 4 month suspension from submissions isn't it, for me personally.

Regardless of that, I do seriously hope you are eager to learn from this, to develop yourself, to improve on everything and to think about all of this: from the actions that led to this, the mentions of people in ways that made them seem like they either had an issue with you or that they're just bad people in general, to everything the community has discussed up until this point. I highly encourage you to read this entire thread and to skip the memes; even if you feel it's "unfair" or that it's "too harsh", that's how reality is, but it is also how we move forward and become better as people. Facing reality and learning how to take a punch or two are crucial steps that we all need to take and I sincerely want to think and hope that this was a one off situation that "dumb teenager Jay" did without thinking (we all do dumb shit as teenagers). If you were 16 back in 2015, that means you're still very, very young (by comparison anyway), which means you still have time to mature and to learn from this.

If you feel anything I said was unnecessarily rude, let me know. In the event something was out of place or needlessly harsh on you as a person, I apologise and I will reword it should that be the case. I don't particularly think I was mean or unfair, but I can only see things from my perspective, not others until I am made aware of said perspectives.

Once again, thank you for posting here - huge step forward and let's hope no more steps back.

Still waiting on a public announcement from SRC. Any day now would be great. Still trying to act like this never happened and sweeping everything underneath the rug. SRC is basically saying it’s ok to cheat as many times as you want right now without any explanation still lol.

I mean they are already aware of the situation, as it's been brought up in discord. If they haven't acted already, then it's pretty clear what their decision is.

Lmao SRC really is compromised if the site staff can't get the basics down. Everyone is capable of changing, sure. That doesn't mean you get to keep your lb positions and get to continue submitting if you get caught cheating though. Someone tell Todd Rogers to drop a 30 minute apology video so he can get his place back as WR holder of Dragster 5 5 1 BAYBEE
