I have to stop drinking, now he's reappeared... Yesterday, when I hitted the enter key I went directly in the overworld.

For information Théo said on Discord : There's a potential glitch in Story Mode. Complete the Fort Magma challenge with one account, start a new account, and after finishing a race it's possible to go immediately to the overworld without having to get the trophy or restart the race This may have been what Wax mentioned here: https://www.speedrun.com/stk/thread/39mav/4 So I don't drink and what do you decide ? (Btw. I'll probably run any% again because of the quarantine that will arrive in France)

These bugs are making it messy, but I think it would be good to stick to this principle : actions made before the run should not allow to make the run faster.

Andet and Théodore have the same opinion. Théodore "But I don't think that this should be allowed because the game isn't reset properly" Andet "Yes I agree it shouldn't count" And I also agree, so you have just to modify the rules :) (Soon an any%, Alayan ? ;) )

Actually, I already covered that with "You must reset the game properly such that the run happens like you were starting STK from scratch." in the 1.x Story Mode rules. But now I am making it general (and removing these specific rules).

Added: "A run gameplay must not be influenced by actions done before it (for example, from a previous attempt)." That should settle these cases for good...

I precise gameplay because there are actually other things that may change according to a previous run like the initial camera angle when you restart an IL; it would be of course dumb to reject basically every run due to that graphic change :p ! I am also thinking about the "ugh" sound when you pause and reset before it ends Lol

Also note that due to the specific rules overriding the general ones, it is of course still possible, if allowed, to preselect the kart or the initial position in the Overworld (we can discuss whether to keep it or not for 2.x; some rules exist solely because "it was always that way"...).

I just changed the rule regarding the Story Mode Timer for 1.x, which now requires the Built-In Timer for 1.1+ (or the Official Timer Mod for 1.0). Now that it is an official feature, it is reasonable to require it as nobody is either going to use an external timer for 1.1 nor run 1.0 without the Timer Mod... And it will make everything easier for everyone.

"- You must use the built-in speedrun timer in 1.1 and more recent (and the official Timer Mod for 1.0) with ms precision, which must become pure green once the run is finished. It measures the real time without loading times."

I also moved the 0.9.3 Android category to the Category Extensions...

I suggest allowing verification of the runs by ghost replay file. There's probably no possibility to cheat with these files and some speedrunners just make a video of a replay file. There's no reason why they shouldn't be allowed (except for lazy moderators :P )

To be clear a simple link to a ghost replay file (on google drive or github for example) or a possibility to upload the file on speedrun.com

I think it would be reasonable to require: either a live video or a ghost replay file. Live videos are also pretty much impossible to fake convincingly.

Cheating should not be possible with this :). That'd be fine. @Fouks @theodorepringle @Alayan What do you think about that ?

Ghost Files are actually simpler to falsify than a Live Recording. My opinion was always to only accept Live Recordings for top submissions. In another hand, I would not even bother requiring a video (a screenshot would be enough) for runs that are something like 5 s worse than the current record for an IL or 5 minutes for a Story Mode run... Past a certain threshold, anyone could make such times with not much effort...

As Theodore has pointed out, the tracks where there is a checkline at the finish line (Antediluvian Abyss, Volcan Island, Zen Garden, Oliver's Math Class, Around the Lighthouse) have the problem where you can trick the timer into thinking you finished earlier if you hit the edge of the finish line. Since the time that appears is not the true elapsed time, and since the time discrepancy is known to be 1/24 of a second, we think it would make sense to adjust for this from now on. If @Fouks or @Alayan agree to this I can go ahead and make the adjustments.

(So in the future, whenever this checkline bug is present, we would add 1/24 seconds and round up to the nearest 1/120 of a second).

Agree.

Removed specific rule for 1.0 ILs: "The Nessie's Pond glitch that allows to get a time of 0:00.000 is banned, as well as any similar glitch that gives a very broken time at the end (but you can use the ones in Oliver's Math Class or Volcan Island that save 1/24 s for example)." Added: "The true elapsed time is considered. If a glitch altered the shown time at the finish screen, an adjustment will be done to reflect the actual elapsed time. In this case, the first reference time will be the time shown at the left just before the finish screen, next to the character's icon, if it has ms precision. Else, the adjustment will be on a case-by-case basis, for example, by adding 1/24 s to the final time in the case of the Checkline Bug." (remember that these rules override the General ones)

For example, if Hacienda had the bug, we would have put 1:30.658 for the latest Theodore Pringle's run (time shown next to the icon). Note that the rule changes are not retroactive, but feel free to update the older runs anyway if you wish. In this case, an example, the current Oliver's Math Class will become 59.334 + 1/24 = ~59.376. No need to round to the 1/120 after. You will also need to rewatch and update the Gps I think :p .

I also changed the rule for submissions: not longer requiring videos for runs 10% or more worse than the current record. This may encourage new players to run the game, especially if they have even laggier computers than Wax'. I am also telling that Live Runs are preferred and could be required in the future (fun fact, if you were absolutely rigorous, built-in ghosts are actually faked as I saw a commit where the Ghost version was altered from 0.10 to 1.0, so their Uid should no longer be valid Lol)

Removed: "A video is required for all submissions. For now, ghost replays are allowed for ILs." "If we cannot see a valid time, we will reject your run" (regarding Ghost Replays) Added: "Record (1st place) and any run having a time less than 10% worse require a video for submission. Else, runs with times at least 10% worse than the current record don't need any proof (though try to provide a screenshot link in the description if you cannot provide a video). We however reserve the right to reject runs without proof if there are suspicion of abuse of this rule. For now, ghost replays videos are allowed for ILs, but this may be subject to change in the future and Live recordings are always preferred." "If we cannot see a valid time, we will add a penalty time of 0.1 s."

Maybe I should create a Github repository for these rules Lol

You need to clarify for the GP if a player can change track order. Andet thinks we shouldn't because : "It's changing the GP And it can give you an advantage in that you can get tracks like Volcan Island out of the way lol" Théodore thinks we can change the tracks except the first because : "Well, you always start out the first track in last, but if you win that race you start out the next tracks in first, which could make a very slight difference So maybe you should have to first do the normal first track, and then the rest of the tracks could be done in any order." I think it depends if Theodore would like to do another run :P

I think that it is natural that the Gps should be played without modification, so I am not going to state this explicitly, unless people want this... Like Andet said, it is changing the Gp, similarly to changing the minimum points requirements in the Story Mode, so changing the order should not be allowed. In game, you cannot even edit the Gp and need to copy it to a new one with another name, which obviously gives something that cannot be considered as the original IL. The order can be changed for All Tracks Gp, but as you are supposed to create the Gp yourself, it is logical to allow this here.

You maybe noticed that peertube.co.uk doesn't work currently. I (really) think the runs (that use peertube.co.uk for the video) should stay because these runs have already been checked. I have only an addon run on peertube.co.uk I think, but it can be a bigger problem for @Fouks. I hope it will works again, if not, maybe we'll have to search another peertube' instance :/ (and re-submit the runs). I hope also Fouks has the related runs saved on his computer. (and also his TAS :P)

Don't worry, I have backups so no problem... Indeed, this instance is unreliable at times, I will consider migrating to another one if the problem persists... Good point about things that are no longer available, after all in 10 years maybe many videos will no longer be accessible... Things already verified can indeed stay, there does not seem to be any significant drawbacks... Added "A verified run whose proof is no longer accessible will remain, but when possible, the submitter should update the link or reupload the proof."

I would like to use Pidgin' edit by Crystal (https://online.supertuxkart.net/addons.php?type=karts&name=pidgin--2020-edit-) in my runs, allowed or not? The hitbox and the speed are the same.

I'd say yes since it's not really any different from using a texture mod, even though it's an add-on. But we should wait for another mod's opinion probably. Good question though.

(Note that it would be more complicated if you want to use it in GP or Story Mode since it could mess with what the AI use)

Maybe just replace Pidgin's model with Crystal's so it's not technically an add-on.
