Is it allowed to use someone else’s run for a game submission if you give them credit and the game isn’t already on the website?

Pays de la Loire, France

No, you must run the game by yourself to have the game added to the site.

(This thing was possible a long time ago but now you can't do that anymore for game requests)

Submitting someone else's run as your own? No

Submitting some else's run for them, listing their name as the runner? Sure, preferably with permission.

Not for a game submission as far as I know. It is possible to add peoples runs to an existing leaderboard for them, with or without their knowledge (preferably with).

However, as I understand it, if you submit for a game to be added you are expected to moderate it, and therefore you should know as much about the run as possible - the run in your submission is supposed to be evidence supporting this. So no, I'm pretty sure submitting for a game using someone elses run is not allowed.

WRs are hard, let me just borrow yours and give you credit for it.

If you are that desperate for WRs, then you're in this community for the wrong reasons man.

What would happen if I submitted another person's run without their permission? The reason being is this one has completely gone off the grid. He hasn't uploaded to his channel, nor posted anything on his social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) since 2016. He has great runs that I would like to submit to a leaderboard on Dying Light that is very bare. It would be in his name and credited to the guy of course.

United States

As mentioned above, nothing. It would be possible, although it might be a good idea to consult other game community members first.

Like I said before, it's preferred to get permission. There are some runs that are like 10 plus years old and those runners left the community a long time ago. I would submit their runs for them for historical purposes. Trying to reach out to someone that left the community years ago every time their run is posted somewhere sounds like hell.
