What are the normal settings used for speedruns?
I notice that people are getting points on the menus. I feel like I am missing something. I know I am going to feel dumb.

Do you mean how people are getting points while in the disease/transmission/symptoms/abilities screens? If so, that's not a setting, it's a glitch. You perform it by doing the following: Press 3 when a popup appears on the screen, for example, the "Disease begins in country" popup. As long as you don't close the popup, the glitch is in effect. you can open the disease or world screens without the game pausing. If you use Metabolic Hijack on your disease with this glitch, red and orange bubbles will be popped while in the disease/world screens.
wait for the first popup appear and then use the keyboard to set the speed to 3 (press 3 on keyboard) without closing the popup. While the popup is open, the game will still run on bg.
Hey Frostiko, A lot of good information has been given. I would just add that next to the button for "Submit Run", you have the button "View Rules". It may be able to help you in your settings ;)
If the basic rules are not followed, your run will not be accepted. For the rest, it's up to you to find a way to beat your score or that of others !

Hey everyone, I've been trying to do the glitch where the game runs in the background while the disease menu is open, but I can't seem to get it to work. I'm waiting for first pop-up then pressing 3 to set the speed to 3, and the game runs while the pop-up us open, but when I open the disease menu the game pauses until I close the menu again. Any help? :)
In option the "auto pause game" must be "on". When we have pop up, the game stop, but if you click 3 to make speed to 3, the game run as normal in speed 3.
