Real Time VS In Game Time

Hey guys. Im new to speedrunning. Ive started running this and noticed theres some big differences in the real time vs in game time; even within the top 2-5 on PS2 emu and my PB is 1:36:17rt 43:36igt.

Is in game time a good judge for records? X-box seems to be hard to get a hold of and i dont believe it runs on any emulators. I've been thinking of going for a sub 40igt as a goal. What are peoples thoughts?

Well in my recent run i just got a 35:06 igt and as even though in my opinion it should be in a different category but that would mean being able to take your time leveling stats in the gym after every match which is why i think they just go by real time. So at the moment i think igt is just a bragging right for this run

WOW 35:06!!! Nice work. I was unaware of the parameters of what was considered to be igt. It could be good open up a new category to bring some people back but it could also shunn the X-box advantage. Could be fun to have a cool looking character in the speedrun though too.

In PCSX2 1.7 dev version; you can turn on MTVU without crashing the game and it seemed to make my loading times more accurate and menu-ing a little more responsive, but slowed down in 4 way a little.

Yea, this is a game that very much needs to be timed with real time, not in game time. From my understanding igt only tracks your time in the fights, which is only a small portion of the run.

I may still move to try and get a good igt once i get a rt run that im happy with. Seems like fun.

I would be in favor of them making an alternate IGT category, but the bigger problem is the allowing of emulator runs to be posted on the main leaderboards. This gives emulator runners a MASSIVE advantage over anyone speedrunning the game on the actual hardware (this game has a LOT of load times that Emulators can cut out). I would say the bigger priority would be to either move emulator runs into their own side category or ban times on emulators that fall under a specific threshold, as basically all other console games do.

Edit: On the flip side, IGT is already tracked on the leaderboards, and could provides runners good information if the Emu squad was moved to their own category, such as showing you how you stack up to other runs in terms of fight efficiency vs menuing/navigation efficiency.
