I would like to ask speedrunners out here who do it on PS4 to tell me about their setup. I used to speedrun on PS3 (but never submitted my Deus Ex Human Revolution run) and I simply used a game recorder plugged on the PS3 and livesplit on my PC but I could never mix them since the PC wasn't connected to the PS3 or the recorder.

However I would like to twitch my upcoming runs so I would like to know what gear to use and how to connect the livesplit interface with the game and twitch the whole thing.

You dont need any of that. PS4 has it's livestreaming feature to both YouTube & Twitch. You can stream as long as you want. And you'll understand how to use it after a few streams.

But sometimes, the game's PS4 name and Twitch name are different. Example:

PS4 Name: inFAMOUS: Second Son (TM logo :P) Twitch Name: inFamous: Second Son

So after a few minutes in the stream, go to stream settings and change the game's name to it's Twitch name. I hope this wasn't complicated af..

Thank you! For the streaming part I know that PS4 have a built-in system which allows you to stream directly from the console but my question was more orientated towards how can I stream runs with a display of Livesplit on the viewer's screen?

for that you need a capture card, then you can use OBS or a different streaming program to edit what the viewers see.

You can use a capture device like an Elgato HD to capture the ps4 over HDMI. Then using that raw stream in OBS you can set up livesplit to display.
