i started my campaign speed run from the ""press any button to continue" screen after the loading screen before the first level.

Thank You!

As you're by far more active than the current moderation, and would know more about these new categories and difficulty levels than me, I decided to add you as a moderator if that's alright. Feel free to shoot me a message if not and we can get these new categories added soon. Thanks!

I've been talking to people on the wolfire discord and it turns out that lower difficulties run at a slower game (speed 80% and 90% respectively). Other than the simulation speed there is also a setting for difficulty it self going from 0 to 50 to 100 on the respective difficulty levels.

What I would like to know is if there is any support to simply run all versions at 100%? As it stands now the game will still believe that you are playing in "casual" mode even if you turn the speed to 100%. This could make it difficult for mods to very that runs are done on the intended speed settings as a small increase like 5-6% would be hard to notice.

Running all of the difficulties at 100% would ensure that nothing like that could happen. And in case you're wondering about the difficulty setting it self. Playing at anything under 50 is considered "casual" and anything under 100 is considered "hardcore" only 100% difficulty and speed allow the "expert setting to be enabled.

Another option would be to make players open the settings after the first lines of dialogue starts and then start timing after that dialogue is skipped. If the player is running at the pre-baked difficulty speeds and difficulty settings it will be reflected there.

I don't think there should be a blanket rule for what difficulty, but having people show their difficulty setting wouldn't be a bad choice either before or after the run. Also, I'll go and add something for now for the new category and you guys can give me feedback on what you'd like changed. Feel free to contact me on Twitter rather than here since I do not get notifications for new replies, only new threads.

I agree with TheRealVincentio, having a rule that all runs have to be set to 100% speed makes the most sense. For the difficulty setting, it should be set automatically and verified at the end of the run by showing the Game Options screen. I think it should be shown at the end, because why should you show it every time you restart when you'll only ever need it if you complete a run.

I love this game so much! I'll do runs when I get my laptop working.
