Regarding the Game Boy Color version categories and rules

Hello! I was viewing the charts for this game entry over the past couple of years as I was planning on doing a speedrun for the Game Boy Color version of the game. I have the chance to do that as of today, so I would like to know what categories and timing methods/rules this version of the game will use. The charts for the Game Boy Color version in the Misc. section don't give any timing guidelines or other rules, and I am not quite sure of what categories are applied to this release either. I guess nobody has done a speedrun of that game in this branch of the internet yet, but I do not know.

I was going to do an Any% speedrun or some kind of standard speedrun for the game, so I would like recommendations on what to aim for and do in that regard. Please let me know.

Nobody has ever done a run of that as far as I know. Any% for it would probably be to beat the final boss as fast as possible starting from a new file. You probably need to use RTA timing since I don't think there is any in game time for that version. You can join the discord if you want to talk to other runners but like I said I don't think anyone has ever run the GBC version and it is very different.

so I would like recommendations on what to aim for and do in that regard. Please let me know. I'd say just do a regular run and start the timer as soon as you hit new game and end it on the last hit on the last enemy, afterwards we'll see if there's any obvious issue with doing it like that and go from there to make a basic ruleset, then if you need some subcategories latter on that can be easily arranged. So pretty much you get to have the biggest say in what's going in the rules for running the GBC version, because you're the only one running it.

Don't mind the Co-op subcategory, it's a limitation from how SR.COM handles values for subcategories and I could try to fix it but I'm not sure how to do that without wiping the boards.

This plan sounds good, and logical. I'll visit the Discord group for Space Invaders speedrunning soon, as I'll work on this speedrun later in this month. My only problem is that I have to beat the game first, or at least be able to do so to make the speedrun for me possible. I haven't beaten the game yet. I haven't played too many other Space Invaders games but this one is a nice challenge. I just need to find out a good way to beat it efficiently. The Game Boy Color version does not have much material or exposure on the internet at all, it seems, even though it was sold 21 years ago. I could never find anything substantial for it. It's a really fun game.
