Is boxing RNG?

In my All Sports runs, boxing can be a little bit of a runkiller. The difference between only needing to knock your opponent down once and three times seemed random at times, but I’m beginning to wonder if it’s actually random. Is there a known way to make boxing more consistent, or is it just RNG-based?

I've never been able to consistently get one-cycles, but it could be possible. I play with 2 remotes, and I've learned that if I do a slight hesitation during the first phase of my fight (before Matt gets dizzy), then finish him off with uppercuts, my chances of getting a one-cycle go up by quite a lot. It is still far from consistent though.

From what I have experienced, it unfortunately seems to be entirely random, and I have a video where Pit gets up five times in a match. The counts are also random, but there are rules programmed for what counts can happen for each knockdown. On the first knockdown, they get up at 3, 4, or 5, or they get knocked out. On the second knockdown, they get up at 6, 7, or 8, or they get knocked out. On the third and subsequent knockdowns, they get up at 8 or they get knocked out, but the latter is much more likely than the former.
