not sure how useful this is... but if it persist through loads n shit i guess you could use it to instantly teleport outta a no fast travel zone

France

Nice glitch ! I'm sure we can find an utility for this (in the institute maybe). I think it won't work if you change zone (or will teleport you in a weird place, could be useful then). Someone on reddit said game crash if you go too far, it needs testing.

Germany

Okay, so i tested it in a large and cornery (a lot of corners -.-) area (dunwich borers) to see how usefull it is for quick exploring, and it appears to me that this technique draws a straight line between point A and point B and then warps you so far back until you hit a wall. As a test i set point A at the beginning of dunwich borers and point B well into Area 4 and it warped me back directly infront of a wall. So, unless we can refine the technique it should be hard to find uses for it

France

Well, I found a way to use it :

I'm pretty sure there are other places where it could be useful.

I'm trying to figure out what variables affect this between-map teleport. I can't seem to replicate Rydou's video exactly, since I always die from fall damage and don't send up in the same area. It's possible that I'm doing his setup wrong. It also possible that hardware of fps (along with a little rng) also play a role in how this glitch works.

France

Yeah, dying from fall damage is a common occurence. Also, the "propulsion" thing seems to depend about what movement you have done before taking the loading zone.

Maybe it's not exactly the same on each computer.

Finland

I could jump high with this. dunno if this is useful tho.

Appear to have found a way to manipulate it, so it propels you instead of simple teleporting you, gonna get a video after a mess around with it more. Actually it's the same thing that skywalk just posted.

Finland

I noticed that when you do that 3rd person glitch. double tap "v" or whatever your first/3rd button is. it can be used second time. tho this time when i hold jump it just goes higher and higher. that was new to me.

skywalk pls get into http://www.twitch.tv/bubblesdelfuego and explain how to do this shit we cant reproduce it consistently

Wales

Ok..

So i made this to help clarify and hopefully get a consistent teleport for people. I have not been able to get the last part consistant with teleport into the town! if somebody wants to try and come up with another location/ set up that would be good.

Also can somebody test the easy set up as well. As it may be FPS dependent but not 100% sure!

It doesn't teleport you too far, always between red rocket and museum of freedom. I guess it would still save time in the long run if we can find a way to land low enough to not die.

The furthest I could get was the museum of freedom, but it was consistent the direction I went.

United States

I tried your setup, but I still keep dying from fall damage. :/

Haha this kept happening me in single player and i couldn't figure out what the fuck was happening. Nice to know I whats happening now.

now that i think about it, I was doing a practice and when i got to valentines rescue mission, inside the vault i teleported to another room and valentine teleported all the way back to where he was rescued. dunno if this could be abused with followers as well

Numerous new ways have since been found to activate the fling, including VATS and pulling out your pip-boy. It's also been found that using Jet significantly increases the distance flung up to 2-3 times the original amount.

Through some testing with the help of my dear friend Rain Life it's been "discovered" that the fling is attempting to place you at the XY coordinates you had when you set up the glitch. (Obtainable with player.getpos x and y respectively.)

Since interiors have a significantly lower range of numbers and you start very far to the northwest, it hardly matters but it essentially means that if the setup is done in an interior cell and the fling activated in the overworld, you will end up somewhere in the middle of the map and then stop. The fling does under no circumstances (seemingly) go past your setup coordinates.

As an example of the "new" ways to activate, as well as Jet, I leave you this recording of flying from Concord to roughly Ticonderoga. Edit: Apparently src can't embed timestamps, go to 3:17

If you're curious, I simply pull my weapon out, Jet, jump, press tab, and if my pip-boy UI shows up, I equip another weapon. Otherwise I keep pressing tab as soon as the load ends.

Only one use I see is to grab a fast travel point in Sanctuary and teleport on the top of Museum. It's might doable but must be consistent

The center of the map (0,0) appears to be almost exactly at Greenetech Genetics. On the "map" where the institute is stored, it's at around (0,0) as well. Purely hypothetically, but if we could get OoB on another map, could you get flung into the institute? Would be a nightmare to pull off of course, though.

edit: The point where you fast travel into the institute is like (0,1000,0). The greenetech interior (when you first enter) is (-999,773,0).

It seems that all interiors have their own maps though, so maybe not.

interesting find. I just had an idea while reading that, could you determine the local coordinates of the "spawn spots" of some fixed maps just like you did with the "overall map"? Its hard to explain what i mean, so let me try this:

When we go to place A and it is its own map (e.g. Goodneighbour), when we go OoB and void jump, our coordinates get set to a specific point (like in Fo3). Now, if we could get the local coordinates inside the map, where the game puts us after a void jump, AND it turns out to be always (0,0), its safe to assume, that these void-spawn points are always (0,0). Now, if we go OoB on the Overall map and then void jump, the game sets us to (0,0) which should be the institute if i understood corectly what you said Untouch. When i was going for 100% completion the other day, i had to do the BoS questline, which sends you inside some nuke-reservoir or what ever, and i noticed that when i void jumped, the game set my coordinates so, that i was directly in front of the exit, which would be a logical point for the (0,0) local coordinate. At least it would be for me, when i would create a map using an engine editor. Sadly i cant test that, so it would have to be tested on pc

The institute's void position is -3189,12.

Germany

yeah but is it global or local?
