Battleon1...your are aware that for ts2 the pc and n64 are their own categories right?

United States

@Lance So basically PC and N64 are the only versions then?

United States

"There's no point asking us, because what are any of us going to do? Force all moderators of all boards to separate every single release of every single platform?"

Finally you get it.

United States

@Ankoku Please do explain why that would happen.

United States

I doubt that TS2 is the only game that has this problem.

Also regarding forcing mods: I misunderstood.

I meant more of encourage mods to do it and show that it's beneficial.

Germany

Not removing loads from PC runs is a fucking joke.

^ True say.

seriously though, what you want just isn't going to happen battleonfan. Mostly because it wouldn't be a good thing as well as being more of a pain in the ass for everyone involved.

multiple people have explained to you at this point why you don't track every single version of every single game individually and at this point most people would've shrugged and gone "Ah, ok. Fair enough." but you're kinda content to ignore those explanations and push for a system nobody wants and probably should not have.

Take a look at say, the board for basically any older Resident Evil game if you'd like to see why what you're describing gets messy and unwieldy in a hurry. (sorry RE guys I love ya really)

e: of course as soon as I write that I go over there and I see they actually consolidated their platforms lately. Good work! I can't think of a better example off the top of my head unfortunately so uhhh, whoops.

@battleonfan1 just because you cant afford to run on the fastest version it doesnt mean that everyone else has to create 15 categories just so you can have a random wr.

I didn't say 'don't care what people think', I said (not literally these words, but this is a summary) 'the only people that really matter are the others in the community' (here's a quote: "The sub-community of the game, who are the only people that can be good peers [critics] to the runner"). So actually, you can care what others think, but only the relevant others that have knowledge of what's going on, not irrelevant random shitters. If people being cyberbullied stopped caring what irrelevant people told them, they wouldn't feel hurt and wouldn't off themselves.

If relevant people were attacking them, that's a tough time, that's the real world, that's real criticism against them, but (I hate to say it) sometimes attackers are right by saying victims need to toughen up a bit and learn off of (relevant) criticism instead of battering themselves over it. Unless the criticism from relevant people is actually just insults with no weight behind them. In that case, words hurt, but then again, so does harming yourself, so that's not a good scapegoat. (I could also go on to a point of how, without feeling negative, you can't properly feel positive - it's just neutral - but I'm waffling on too much).

I apologise for how much I'm sperging out here, but I don't care. And I also apologise for going off on a tangent from the actual 'fastest version' problem. Oh well (I could have also gone on to a philosophical point of how, without feeling negative, you can't properly feel positive - it's just neutral).

i really wouldn't have even humoured the cyber-bullying comparison Deryl, that was like a weapons-grade stupid comparison to post and has no merit in a discussion about fucking speedrunning.

like it's playing video games fast I dunno how or what strand of logic leads that to suicide or self-harm nor do i really want to know

I don't even know why I responded. I think I get easily heated up, especially when it comes to topics close to me (not going to lie, I've felt suicidal a couple of times, including quite recently). I should stop talking. ok, done, bye

No offense Battle, but you're being dumb and making something that isn't a big deal a big deal. You are the only person I have ever heard complain about something like this.

If the mods don't care about the whole ordeal than neither should you. The people that have ran the game have been running it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than you have, trust me. If anyone were to make a statement about this in the ts2 community it would be Adam cuz he did all the technical timing for the game, and if he didn't find anything to make a big deal out of then there is obviously no problem.

Just let people run whatever they want. As long as it is an official version, there's literally no reason for wanting to "ban" anything. Just split categories if the difference is significant enough.

I really don't see a problem.

@Lance_ So because I haven't been running long enough, that means I can't have a logical say in the matter? That's like saying that a kid can't give an adult logical advice on life. Which you know isn't true.

Québec

there isnt going to be multiple categories, just give it up.

Afghanistan

There should at least be a drug-tested/non tested category split IMO

United States

@doctorwoot How does taking drugs alter the game in any way?
