Hi guys ! I'd like to learn MGS 3 speedrun and I need some informations first. I saw a lot of pal versions in the leaderboard. Is the pal version in 60 Hz ? i'm pretty sure it's a 50 Hz (and not optimize). Do I have to look for a japanese version ? Other thing, I don't have PS3 or X360, so I have to play on PS2. Is there a big difference ? Probably loading are faster on PS3 / HD version. Last thing, I have the subsistence version on PS2 / Pal. Is there a difference with classic Snake Eater for speedrun ? (I prefer Sub version because of the cam). Lot of questions, I hope you can help me and maybe see ya soon on the leaderboard :)

I ran the ps3 version so im not sure what to tell you, but i did play the ps2 version and there wasnt to much difference even in the load times, but that was snake eater not sub :)

Ok, so main problem is to know if I have to run a NTSC version on PS2... Pretty sure than Pal is not optimized. Need more advice :)

PS3 is fastest. As far as i know region doesnt matter. PS2 is slower then HD due to load times. Sub is faster then SE due to how the camera works in certain rooms. hope this helps :)

I will try to speedrun on Snake Eater NTSC-US Extreme. I don't have Subsistence, nor a PS3/Xbox 360. I will try to find a Subsistence disc ^^ I think that NTSC for the PS2 is faster than PAL, but I cannot tell you. Japanese would be faster due to faster text ? But English is a good choice.

hmm, I have the 3ds version and i would think maybe there is because of the crouch walking and maybe because of how the camo can be anything you take a picture of so there probably is. Would be interesting to see lol.

yeah, and it's possible that some of peace walker's glitches made it in the game ( i think it's the same engine, could be wrong u.u''). The only negative thing i can think of it's the lag at some points of the game. I'll try to mess around with the idea though x)

I think they are somewhat similar but there isn't many glitches in peace walker so it is hard to compare them. For the mgs3 3ds version, it will be tested soon hopefully :)

3DS Version Slowest, PS2 Version PS3 Version fastest. (This is the main reason Hikari speed runs on PS3, also he just got in 1 hour 12 minute speedrun so...not going to be any competition for a while...I hope ;-) )

By the way, you can do a glitch in Krasnogorje in SE PS2, it saves 4 minutes (afaik). Not sure if this is allowed.
