Hey im new to speedrunning, looking to get started with this game. Just wondering if there's a guide of sorts to get timer/vid capture set up. Also can't seem to get the version from "Resources" set up, would it be cool to run the game from kongregate?

you can run the game from Kongregate but i would recommend running it on this site with this version http://www.fastswf.com/DBP2m9M there is less lag, its easier to practice and its good to record on

I reccommend downloading the swf and running it offline. Fastswf lags a bunch for me for some reason.

Alrighty. and is there any way to hook up auto splits? or do i have to use a hotkey? Which recording software do you use as well?

obs is the most popular free option and use hot keys. (no one knows hoe to do auto splitters ._.)

I can probably work out autosplitters if I spend a few hours on it, but I think we'd all have to use the same offline flash player version and the same SWF

With live split i first had a split for every level and it really helped (would recommend) After I got sub 7 it came to a point where I had to change how I splitted. My splits are now 1-4 5-9 10-14 15-19 20-24 25-29 30 I did it like that because that's where all the hints are and binding the start/split to space helped move to the next screen and move to the next split. I always wanted auto splitters in this game but just now i realized it would be useless because of the hints in-game :/ few minutes later Wait no it would help. it would be accurate and you wouldnt have to worry about splitting 2 times.
