If you want to talk about anything KSP speedrun related, this is a good place for that.

With all praise to Scott Manley, the manliest of men, his run isn't valid according to the rules. It doesn't show the launch and it includes mods (Kerbal Engineer).

It shows the launch. the run starts about 7 minutes into the video. Also, I'm thinking of making a list of allowed mods, since kerbal engineer doesn't effect gameplay in any way that would make a run faster. Thanks for pointing this out.

Would anyone be particularly upset if I removed some of the IGT categories? While in some cases it is useful (such as the Island Express), it's just unwieldy in longer runs, especially when said longer runs can literally take YEARS in-game.

IDK about removing IGT, after all, because of the way RTA works, it's a bit pay to win, whoever has the fastest computer has a significant advantage. On the other hand, it really should be more about real-time piloting skill than anything else.

Also @Walkinator, I say allow kerbal engineer so long as it isn't used passed the VAB/ no surface stats allowed (it has a suicide burn calculator and where's the fun in that :P)

Part of the problem with IGT for the years-long categories is that speedrun.com only lets you input times up to 999 hours, which makes it impossible for some IGT runs to even be completed. I'm pretty sure that even in Sandbox mode the only other planets that have a chance to be reached and landed on in under 999 hours would probably be Duna or Eve (so then also Gilly and Ike), which is why I didn't include IGT categories in the ILs.

I honestly don't care much about IGT. it's generally unfun to optimize for it, since most of the time it involves a ladder drive being used at 4x physical time acceleration. I don't think anybody really cares much. As for RTA being pay to win, it is true that people with fast computers will have an advantage, but you can always turn vsync off and all of your visuals all of the way down and most computers should be able to handle that. A loadless timer might be a good idea though.
