The current rules state to start your timer when you select your difficulty level and end when you kill the last enemy on the plane in the credits, or you can add 3:45 and skip the Records of Time level.
This does not make sense because you are starting from a brand new file and you have to play that level anyway, why exclude it from the timer and recording? 3:45 only applies if you skip the cutscenes perfectly and either get SUPER lucky with the loading on the disc version (time can range from 3:45 to 4:05) or digital which can still have up to a 4 second variance (3:45 to 3:49).
Can we make this change across the board? The one exception would be for a 1st Climax run which I believe would start when you get past the Immortal Marionette option.
I am also requesting to ban emulated runs at this time as well since CEMU is now able to play the full game. While there are some graphical issues here and there it does load up faster than the digital version.
Yeah, the rule/category clearly needs modify since Bayo2 ns port coming in this month, which I believe has a better performance than the original one. In this regard, playing bayo2 in wiiu will have its inherent disadvantage.
As for the 3:45 thing, I am somehow ambivalent. The rule itself has spoke the rationale behind itself, since after each reset you need "watching" a four minutes long "cut scene"(even you can control the character, you can still leave your controller on the table and after 3 or 4 minutes you will beat this level), this is really boring. However, like you said, maybe it is an unfair time especially for those start game from a brand new game file, they may take more than 3:45.
Anyway ,if mod choose to alter the rule, I hope they can verify my run before changing the rule :)
Well, there's another thing. Since NS port supports amiibo, and with right amiibo you can instantly unlock star fox costume( while you can use other amiibo to gather extra halos), I think in default category ,using amiibo should not be allowed.
Those should be seperated in sub-categories, because getting the star fox suit early on is quite an advantage.
