Hey everyone!

Was looking for a general recommendation for accepted and best emulators to use for Genesis speedruns? Also are any specific ones universally banned due to inaccuracy?

Yeah its not for the particular game im asking for thats why i am asking here. I know some emulators do not run accurately i am not familiar with genesis at all hoping someone with some general knowledge here can help! I found a few emulators on my own i just do not know which are best and/or accepted or accurate

If you want to use the emulator for personal use, then that’s one thing, but when you’re talking about which ones are “accepted” here, that’s a different story.

There are no global rules regarding emulation on this site. Every LB moderates itself differently in regards to emulation and what’s allowed. If a game allows emulator, they will almost always list in the rules which emulators and which versions are allowed or banned. If you have any further questions about whether or not an emulator you want to use is valid for runs, you’ll need to contact the mods of the game(s) in question.

As for personal use, I’m unfortunately not well versed in Genesis emulation so I don’t have any personal preferences. Maybe someone else can drop their personal one of choice.

Yeah I understand that as well. I've contacted the mod of the game.

I know for SNES that the ZSNES emulator is not allowed period due to inaccuracy and that's universal so not sure if genesis was the same in any way that's why I'm asking here.

ZSNES being banned is only "universal" in the sense that the emulator is complete garbo and almost every SNES game community realizes that and individually enforces it. Even with that though, if you look deep enough you'll still find a surprising number of games that allow it.
