Tips for timing the quickfire on the pistol?

I recently tried to look at a route where I could grab the shotgun, as the damn dog with the collar was messing me up consistently with the handgun. Then I watched a few videos and noticed that people seem to be able to do a quick burst of rounds with the pistol.

I've spent a while experimenting with this and I can't quite get the timing consistently. Any tips, or is it just a practice makes perfect kind of thing?

Think I've found a timing, I reckon you need to squeeze the trigger (or whatever button you use for firing) at around 135 BPM. I'm using a metronome app to experiment, thought others might find this useful as shaving a few seconds off that dog fight seems like a great way to make Mansion 1 more consistent

Practice makes perfect, but in quick shooting case it can be really tricky.

The trick is it's really all about this one frame. To put it simply, you have to press fire button exactly at the end of recoil animation.

So you shoot first time - there's this recoil animation, where jill's gun for instance goes up and just at the end frame of that you have to press fire again. You may even shoot 3 times in a row - that'd be god like.

Thanks, Nerumin. I'm playing at 120fps and if I looked at it as a frame data problem I'd go insane, never been very good at that. As a drummer and a bassist, however, I'm able to follow a metronome. 150BPM seems to be right on the money, 3 shots every single time. Just going to practice until I have the right feel for doing it with the metronome, then I'll try and do it without.

I appreciate all the feedback I get on these forums, really helpful :)

If I had to guess, since it's a 1 frame link on 30 fps it then becomes a 4 frame link on 120fps?

Just practice the rhythm, moreso than trying to find a timing.

Huh. I never thought about using a metronome for this. Gonna have to try it out.

Hey WeirdRituals, let me know if I'm right with 150BPM. Seems pretty spot on to me

Even though this is super late, metronome practice for this is probably the best way to do this. Glad you thought of using it! It's an amazing tool for keeping in time :D

So I finally sat down and tried this out with a metronome. I don't know if it's because I've already practiced this way too much without a click, or if it's indicative of the timing not totally syncing up with a steady beat, but I could not do it.

I went back and forth between 147 and 150 BPM with varying degrees of success. I turned sound and rumble off. Sometimes it would feel spot on, and other times it felt nowhere close.

So, if you've already gotten decent at quick firing without a metronome, your mileage with one may vary. If you're new, it might still be helpful, even if only as a starting reference point.

Sidebar: I highly recommend using Cheat Engine to freeze the ammo count on the pistol while practicing (if you're on PC). Oh my gosh it's so much nicer than constantly reloading a save. If anyone hasn't used it before let me know and I'll be happy to post steps.
