I've seen this suggestion several times but I figured I'd make a dedicated thread for it.

My idea of forum moderators would be volunteer site staff who are community members, are active within the forum, and care about it's integrity. Forum moderators would have the power to sticky/unsticky, lock, delete, and rename threads as well as delete individual posts on all forums within the site (Game forums, General forums, Marathon forums, Series forums, etc). Some restrictions would have to be put in place on the general forum to prevent abuses of power like possibly the inability to sticky threads or delete threads. Another possible idea (although I can see the goods and bads of this) is to allow forum moderators to mute users (this would be helpful when dealing with bots) which would prevent them from making new forum posts.

The main job of Forum moderators would be to mitigate bot posts by locking the thread (mainly to remove it from view) until a Full Moderator can ban the user and delete the thread. They could also take actions such as locking or deleting threads at the request of community members in forums of series that do not have moderators. 

Of course this is just an idea, I welcome any feedback on it.

i dont think access to game forum moderation is neccesary, and i would prefer seperate forum moderators for series.
but for the general forums yes needed. but also a more modern forum system would be nice.

@survivalMichi I get the reasoning behind not giving forum mods power of game forums, maybe forum moderators should only be given power over game forums if the game has no moderators. Also, what do you mean by separate moderators for series forums? The reasoning behind giving forum mods power over series forums is that an increasing number of series don't have moderation so they nobody can manage the forum. I definitely agree that a better forum system should be implemented but my idea mainly focuses around the current system.

i mean less powerful series moderators, basically for the forum and game forums of the series (and maybe theme) no adding games.

Oh, I see what you’re saying. I don’t know if adding a site staff role just for that purpose would be necessary though. I think it’s probably easier to just add one Forum Moderator role as opposed to having Forum Moderator and Global Series Moderator (or whatever they’d be called).

i dont mean global series moderators. I mean for each series moderators with less power. 
so basically a new forum moderator role and for series a role which can moderate the forum of it.

Oh ok, I misunderstood. I don’t know how that would work though since they would have to be added by a series super moderator (who can add games obviously) which less and less series seem to have recently. Unless site staff wanted to start handing out this series forum moderator role which seems unlikely to me. Probably the easiest thing would be to just have a Forum Moderator role that handles everything forum related rather than making it unnecessarily complicated by dividing it up.

i agree that it is simpler, but managing permissions isnt really the hardest change ever on the site.
I just cant imagin people liking it when they have to run to outside help when they want to properly use their forum.
Its just another Factor to push the subcommunities to other plattforms.

You make some good points and I do wish they’d make changes to series moderation but they don’t seem willing to do that for whatever reason. If they did add a Forum Mod role to series then yes there would be no purpose to have Global Forum Mods be able to manage series forums but at the going rate it’s probably best. This is all hypothetical of course, they may never even add Forum Mods in the first place.
