I've been wanting to start speedrunning for some time now. I want to start with pretty easy and short game/games for PC. Less than 1 hour per run would be nice. Preferably free. Any suggestions? Also games that allow emulator using are fine too.

NES/SNES games are simple enough to emulate. Keep in mind web games are also an option.

Limbo is a nice game to speedrun for new runners, but you should just choose whatever game you enjoy!

Upgrade Complete is a fun little webgame. I'd recommend checking that out, it's well under the 1 hour mark.

A lot of the RE series fit the bill and you can either emulate or get the PC versions for free (nb. I would never advocate piracy).
