Any tutorial for speed crippling?

Struggling quite a bit with speed crippling, does anyone have a video tutorial?

Belgium

Doing it with falling of the cliff is insanely inconsistent and except if you are going for world record, you shouldn't do it that way. What I recommand you is using the missile launcher setup. You need to get the stimpack from your room before leaving V101 and then buy a missile and a missile launcher. You can follow my All DLC speedrun guide until getting speed cripple.

Thanks for the tutorial, I'll be trying it out later ;)

How much time does this lose compared to the cliff method?

Belgium

something like 20-30s. to give you an idea, WR with cliff is 15:25 and with missile launcher it is 15:51 (sum of best being 15:48)

Fair enough. Thanks for the help :) I've been using your tutorials a lot, and they've been really helpful.

Hey there. What Miku says is good stuff, but I thought I'd give my perspective on it.

There's a grocery store at the top of the hill near the parking lot and Metro station after you exit the vault, on the way to LL. Inside it is a grenade trap. For some people, grenades are fairly consistent for getting the glitch. And, since it's on the way, it's faster than the missile launcher. I've used it in practice runs and it's quite fast. and you could easily compete for top 7 with this strat.

Other than that, it seems I get the falling glitch the most consistently out of basically anyone. My strat is to standardize my movements out of the vault as much as possible. What makes me get the glitch more often is consistency in movement. I make similar movements each run before the glitch, specifically looking the same way, being sure to load the same things each time. Thus, the timing I've practiced matches up with the correct frames to get the glitch.

This works because the game's engine can only render a certain amount of physics actions at one time. Calculating your falling velocity upon landing to determine whether or not you break a leg/die is a physics based calculation. The amount of things going on/loaded in can affect when/where/how long/ how many frames the glitch can be achieved.

Basically, it took a lot of practice for me to get it so I can get it on average in five tries or fewer (in my current PB, I get in on try # 2). Understanding WHY and HOW it happens was important to figuring out how to get it consistently.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for all this technical explaination. It will probably help me a lot getting falling glitch consistently.

Miku_, keep in mind that these things are based on my experience. I've had people say it worked, and people that say it hasn't worked. Maybe you'll have more luck than some.

So what do you do when the trader never spawns. Is there any way to manipulate it or is it random and a reset grind to even get him to spawn? I've heard creating a new character for each run makes him spawn, but if I can avoid going through child birth after each reset, that'd be appriciated.

It's not really RNG, He is there depending on the in-game time. Once you have a good save, he should be there every run. what I recommand doing, if your first character has been made as fast as possible, is to wait 30s-1minute in the character creation screen. If you didn't make your character very fast, you can try doing that. If you still can't get him to spawn, I can always upload my save where he's always there (or at least 99% of the time).
