Kirkq: Is it something that would be possible in the future?

United States

I mean I'm not saying I'm against it, but there are numerous other items that would benefit the site/user base as a whole more in the short term.

If anything, maybe it would suggest a "user blog" style page instead of a "forum page". I'm not sure if throwing that code on top of the forums is beneficial.

so i requested the platform GB be added.. it was.. but then this meme happened in all games that made the switch http://i.imgur.com/TwrmUIp.png

so i realized i just need to edit my submitted times so that the submitted platform matches the games platform.. fixed everything

Yeah, runs don't work well with data types that are no longer defined for the game. Has to be re-edited.

Any reason why resources for any games can only be added by mods? Very limiting for no real gain imo
Here is my thread: http://www.speedrun.com/Speedrunning/thread/0xphf

I would like this to have just my posts. Anything anybody wants to say about what I post should be in a comment section type of thing underneath each individual post. Basically instead of continuing the thread, anybody who wants to contribute can leave a reply to the day's post. I would like every comment on there that isn't in the format of a daily post to be moved to a comment/reply section within each post.
I agree with kirkq, this sounds a whole lot like a blog. While I don't think having something like that is bad, I don't think it fits as being part of the forum (code), imo. Can't tell you when/if it'll happen, but it would definitely be low priority with a lot of things that need to happen that have higher priority.
http://www.speedrun.com/post/z90b8 Update on this? I think most people like it.
Alright, It's been implemented. I'm not 100% convinced it's an improvement over the old way in practice, but since a lot of people wanted it, I'd like to give it a shot and see what people think of it when actually implemented.
Any reason why resources for any games can only be added by mods? Very limiting for no real gain imo
Agreed. It's been changed now: adding resources to games is no longer limited to mods. Instead, game resources can now be submitted by all users that have a verified run in that game. Hopefully this strikes a good balance between accessibility and quality control.

Any chance that on the user runs page, in the case of a co-op game, that it would only show your fastest co-op time instead of every different combination of players you've done runs with?

Kinda annoying to look at and would be much cleaner just showing the fastest co-op time

We can follow games and that's a very cool thing... I don't know if somebody else said it but it would be very nice to be able to follow runners too ! :)

Would be cool to be able to leave some sort of note/flag in the moderation queue so other mods don't touch something if it's being worked on by someone else. Like one mod suspects cheating/timing issue and is following up, don't want another just going ahead and verifying. Lots of other scenarios I've thought this would be useful too

I requested something similar a while back: http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/g79jt/14#f97nr

United States

An official feature for that would be nice- I've taken to editing the comment field with "mod note: contents of message" at the start. Actually had a back and forth with the runner that way once.

It's a good idea, what sort of form would this take?

Other ideas down the line:

1: I want game moderation to have logs visible only to game moderators eventually, which would take the form of "Person X did Thing Y" each time a logged action took place, such as adding/removing runs, categories, themes, moderators, etc.

2: I'm hoping the run submission process does support a more back and forth behavior eventually. It seems like the user should control the user's run, but the moderator controls whether or not the run goes on the board, so runs not on boards could still be personally tracked by the user (think PBs), just not tracked by the board itself. I foresee this being further down the line though.

Maybe we could get some generic notes field only visible to the user and the moderator as a temporary solution, I'm unsure the logisitics of that under the current system.

Not sure if this has been requested, but would a feature where we can personalize our info tab with text be feasable in the future? That way we can put a little extra something there to make our pages more unique.

I think the 100% categories for games that define 100% themselves in a different way than the community would have defined them if it weren't for the game itself defining 100% should be renamed "Game 100%" and there should be a new category called 100% where the requirements are a proper 100%. Some such games are Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The requirements of Donkey Kong country 2 should be all 68 DK coins, all 40 feathers, and all pieces of advice from Cranky and Wrinkly, and all minigames including the one from Klubba's Kiosk despite the fact that you don't need to do to get all the DK coins, and completion of the game but beating King K Rool again in the lost world shouldn't be required unless the category is instead called 101%. If a new glitch is found where you can fill your scrap book without getting all 40 pictures, the requirements should change to list all 40 pictures as well and that each one has to be gotten the proper way and not glitched into you having it. It's category that's currently called 101% should be renamed "Game 101%". The requirements for Donkey Kong Country Returns 100% and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze 100% should be all kong letters and puzzle pieces and Game 100% should be just all kong letters.
