Best emulator for running?

What is the best emulator I can use for speedrunning this game? in terms of least input lag for playing.

Fceux only has 1 frame input lag, and I think that might only be for TASes.

Antarctica

Owen5560 FCEUX has horrible input lag - the 1 frame input lag is for the game overall, and TASes don't have any additional input lag. Nestopia has the least input lag if I am correct, so that'd be the best if console isn't an option.

I'd go with: try several of the approved emulators and use the one you feel the most comfortable with. Preferences seem to vary quite a bit from person to person.

Yeah console isn't an option unfortunately, and thanks for all the input, will try all emulators. thanks all

FCEUX is the best in my opinion, especially if the quality of your videos aren't the best since there are lua scripts and a framecount to avoid an inaccurate retime. And the input lag isn't bad at all when I play. If there are no frame drops or lag in your videos then this shouldn't be an issue, so you can use nestopia. I don't know why FCEUX has horrible input lag for most people, but if it does for you then use nestopia.

Nestopia has the least input lag for me, and I believe that is because it is less demanding for the computer. FCEUX is more demanding I think I remember someone saying so that is how you could feel it has more input lag. So to reduce input lag you can get the least demanding emulator or upgrade your computer. Fun fact: At the beginning of my smb1 grinding I used FCEUX for a while, but when I switched to Nestopia something like less than 10 days I got my first PB of 4:59 Keepo

Maybe my pc is really good then I guess lol.

TL;DR -Use FCEUX if you want a framecounter + built-in input display with the sacrifice of input lag. -But use Nestopia if you want a resource-light emulator with like extremely little input lag.

Emulator online is good (super mario bros emylator online)

Antarctica

That's not an approved emulator and it has a lot of input lag.

United States

Whats a good Rom for Nestopia?

New Hampshire, USA

A ROM that we can't post a link to, you'll have to search yourself.

It's illegal to download or distribute ROMs due to copyright infringement. Though, a simple google search would go pretty far.

Hi. Let's go over the rules here as I have deleted some comments.

Do not post or link ROMs here in the forums. Don't talk about where to get them either. You can do all that elsewhere on another platform.

I will give a free piece of advice. Don't download a "ROM" that's an .exe file. If you do, for the love of God don't run it unless you're a fan of malware.

I have been thinking it might be an alright idea if I post MD5/SHA1 hashes of the game so that you can check yourself to verify you have a good, unaltered ROM.

For a fully legal way to play the game (but more expensive) you can get an actual nes system from retro game stores for about $70 usd (seems to be the going rate in the US) which usually comes with system and a controller... Then mario/duck hunt for another $10-15 - or it might even come with the system. Then you need a crt monitor which you can usually get for free on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace, and if not free usually about $20.

To stream you can either record the TV, or use a capture card. A good capture card that's relatively cheap is the "gv-usb2" for only $35 from Amazon.

So all in that's the full 1980's setup ready to stream for around $100 USD
