Hi guys love the idea of speed running games and looking to dust few of my old games off and give it a go. Confused though whether my entries will get accepted as I haven't got correct recording devices, just camera on phone lol and stopwatch would this get accepted do you know, I have laptop also if anyone know possibilities of streaming games through it using hdmi cable or something, in reality though not wanting to spend a ton of money so am looking for cheap options. obviously through phone would state time in corner etc so should be clear enough to validate time but will wait to see if any of you know if this is ok or have any better ideas
Welcome to the speedrun.com community Spobble! Hope you have a great time here.
As for your questions, whether your runs get accepted based on your recording device all depends on the community. However, most communities accept any video of a run as long as it follows the rules they set in their specific catagories. Just make sure the video is watchable and has game audio :)
With the laptop you could always use an emulator, most have built in recording options.
Having a split timer onscreen is NOT a requirement, whatever anyone else tells you. If a mod rejects your run because there are no splits/timer onscreen, they're not doing their job properly. The most important element of a submission is intact video and audio, and making sure the entire run is in the video, no start/end cut off.
