LBs rework is coming!

So I was thinking of the best way to define segmented runs, also was thinking of overall quality of LBs and found a perfect solution for it, which, after lotsa thinking, seems to make a lot of sense.

Since speedrun.com kinda supports subcategories (I once said that it doesn't but apparently something like this http://www.speedrun.com/sms#Any1 exists) - all difficulty levels will be put on a lower level as subcategories and top categories will look like any%, any% coop and ILRush. And if I have to donate something for that - I probably will, unless the price is obnoxious (I have no idea how to actually create subcategories right now).

Now to topcategories: Any% is still same thing, you have to record your FULL run of a game from start to end, all loadings/saves must be included, if your game dies and you decide to continue - you include that in a VoD and it counts towords final time (not gonna really go through rules now, since everyone but ImFuryPro suits them).

Coop stays same - the only thing that gets changed - amount of players goes as a variable.

Now to ILRush - that's something I was really considering for a long time as of how to better name it or pull it off. So first - name "ILRush" basically goes from the fact that in every stage you get a certain ammo/weapon/health pool which you start with, and I could basically just name any% like that, but then the rule of "run must be recorded from the beginning to end" sounds arbitrary as hell.

So this is basically a segmented category where you do all ILs as fast as you can with no restrictions - so it is, technically a faster category than any%, but it is not named any% because you can split your run and complete parts at a different time - (do ILs and submit IL compilation).

I do remember that we have a IL leaderboards, but this is mostly done because of ImFuryPro, whose runs are segmented. I haven't though of any reason why someone else would do a segmented run of IL based game, though I though it is pretty reasonable to make an IL compilation, to not make people go through every single of small VoDs (which you probably still would have).

So basically that means that your "ILRush" is basically your compilation of all ILs, but WITHOUT a restriction that a every single IL must be a full recording (which is the case for ILs). So it is kinda misc, and it will be in misc, but it sounds reasonable, it fits game.

Gonna leave that post for a time being - share your thoughts if you care. I will try to respond to any idea you have.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I hate you don't get a notification when someone creates a thread in the series forum :(

I agree with your proposition, although how about we create topcategories for difficulties and subcategories for Any%/IL Rush? I fear the IL Rush category won't have many runs, so it will probably end up as empty.

Also, make sure that the IL Rush category doesn't allow segments, otherwise we may as well allow segmented runs :)

The thing is - I kinda want to make ImFuryPro runs stay, but calling category segmented just doesn't seem to be good, I might just end up putting it into misc in the end, cause I've been thinking and it doesn't fit into actual good ILRush ruleset.

We'll see, so far, I think, I'll put his runs into misc as Segmented, then we will figure something out.

When I came up with idea for "IL Rush" I was considering any segmented stuff goes there, but it might be a bad name then, yet naming a category for a Segmented game "Segmneted" also seems like a bad option, I'm just stuck here with these thoughts :D

So, I updated Classic TSE, share your thoughts.

Looks great.

How about "Segmented/IL rush"? :)

Will apply the rest today.

Btw, I've noticed there is no defined start in rules. The problem is that some runners start their timer when you choose a difficulty and some with the actual start of a level, which makes a difference of about 2-3 seconds.

There might be a bit more mess at LBs than usual. But I'll try to find time (maybe during ESA or after) to: -check rules in each game for consistency; -check every run for validity; -add resources and guides.

I really want this place to be nice and easy to understand and last point is not adding up so far.
