Revamp?

Hello, all I think this leaderboard needs improvement. At the end of the post I'll post reasons and stuff...

Stuff:

  1. Naming
  • All Stages, as it is now, should be All Stages Intended
  • All Stages should be a separate category where gears/packages are allowed, but you still need a level 12 under the leaderboards
  • Reach the Goal is fine, although I would prefer Any%
  • Sideways and Backwards should be under "misc categories"
  1. Rules
  • Starting the timer should change to the moment you spawn from a reset or pressing play (ofc if you reset you would need to spawn at the beginning)
  • Add a new rule: to not take advantage of other players in the game.

Reasons:

  1. Naming
  • Clarity in names
  • More options
  • Less clutter
  1. Rules
  • Clears confusion
  • Removes advantages some players would have over others

Evidence:

  • Ofc this is largely based on opinion, so no evidence :P

  • Looking at my run (http://www.speedrun.com/run/nz1n6j9y), I never cross the Wipeout Sign, so does that mean I get a time of 0?
  • Looking at Loathings' run (http://www.speedrun.com/run/jy9e9eez), they use a path which is obtained when you first beat the game to their advantages, which shouldn't be the case. Runs are supposed to test one's speed against others from the beginning to the end. (They use a tool earned end game to get a better time)
  • Looking at GamingBloxxer's run (http://www.speedrun.com/run/nz16xwwm), they use the BodySwap gear to swap out with another person. This shouldn't be the case because people could have another computer set up and swap with it for an advantage over others, or use them for other reasons (jumping over obstacles, etc.). However, as stated before, the runs should test someone's speed from beginning to end; taking advantage of another person is like starting the run before the timer. The person you are taking advantage of (whether you set them up or not) started running before the run; this does not test the fastest possible time to beat the game from beginning to end.

I hope you take this into consideration...

I guess you could also add a Category "Reach the Goal, NG+" where you can use end game stuff like the path.

The rule of the timer beginning at the Wipeout sign should just be the absolute maximum in my opinion. If you go further than it, the time should not count. However if you started anywhere from the back wall to the sign, then it should be valid.

I definitely agree on what you say regarding help from other players, but that hasn't really been an issue from the looks of it. I'll be rerunning soon if I feel like it and probably get :40 or below, because my current WR is nowhere near optimized.

ok.. so now that I'm a mod does that mean the mods agree with me and want me to do all the work??

also do we have faster way of communicating; like a discord group..

By the way, I should've mentioned that I changed a few things.

  • All Stages Intended will be renamed to All Checkpoints.
  • All Stages will be renamed to All Stages, No Checkpoints. ¤ You can no longer use items AS,NC (reason: it would be a boring version of Any%) ¤ You are also not required to hit any checkpoints, as the name suggests.
  • I will start a thread poll on whether or not we should delete Any% NG+, (reason: it's just Any% plus paths, there's no need for a separate category)
